We exist in a global, multicultural world and our membership reflects that.
STEP has a committee of Council members and staff who are dedicated to driving forward EDI improvements within the organisation.
We want all our people – members, volunteers and staff – to grow and thrive through their relationship with STEP. To make that happen we will treat people fairly and equitably. We will ensure equality of opportunity for all our people.
Above all, we will create an environment where all our people, regardless of background or personal circumstance, feel valued and included. Our guiding principles set out a framework for everyone acting for and on behalf of STEP, especially those in leadership roles (Board, Council, committee chairs and the Executive team).
Join our Employer Partnership Programme to support staff recruitment, retention and motivation. Accreditation as an Employer Partner demonstrates your commitment to developing the skills and talents of your people, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to meet your clients’ needs.
STEP is a community of more than 21,000 practitioners, forming an information network enabling the sharing and exchange of knowledge and ideas. Within this, our specialist areas include seven Special Interest Groups and an Academic Community. You can also get involved with members online through our topic-based forums and social media platforms.
Volunteer support is crucial to STEP, but it can also offer real benefits to those who get involved.
You can get involved at a local, national or an international level. From joining your local branch committee to taking part in working groups and committees – there are opportunities for everyone. You can make a start by contacting your local branch chair or contact STEP. Just let us know what you have to offer, and we can go from there.
This course provides practitioners with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to avoid and better manage trust disputes.

Join the leading global network of trust and estate professionals. Whether you’re an expert or just starting out, STEP is here for every stage of your career.
Explore STEP’s Ethics Hub, where we have pulled together resources to help you understand the role of ethics in professional practice and undertake ethics-related CPD.
Watch Robin McGhee TEP, a member of STEP's Professional Standards Committee, provide an introduction to ethics.
STEP has over 100 branches and chapters worldwide. Each branch is run by a local committee that organises events and networking opportunities.
Every STEP member belongs to a local branch. If we do not currently have a branch or chapter in your area and you are interested in developing one, please get in touch with us.
