The Executive Team

The UMSAE Executive Committee is a group of individuals elected by their peers from all of the design teams to help manage the collective affairs of UMSAE to ensure all the teams are able to accomplish their goals. These members work on the executive in addition to their design team roles. The executive meets every other week. You can learn more about these roles and contact the executive members above. Ignazio Pansini, Chair

The Chair assumes responsibility for the general well­-being of UMSAE and its membership, presiding over Branch Meetings as required by the Constitution, setting the agenda for all Meetings and circulating them in advance. The Chair is responsible for overseeing fundraising and any required liaisons between the Branch and the community (i.e. responsible for external affairs of the Branch). The chair is also responsible for ensuring that all Directors and Executive Officers are fulfilling their duties as required by the Constitution. Furthermore, the chair will be accountable for the overall financial viability of the organization, and is responsible for good communication with the Treasurer, the Sponsorship Director, and the Faculty Advisor.

The Treasurer assumes all financial duties for the Chapter. Financial duties include: responsibility for monitoring each Team’s financial Budget, joint signing authority for all accounts (Internal, Endowment Fund, and Design), any paperwork requiring deposit or disbursement of funds must be properly submitted and processed in due course by the Treasurer. Will advise the Executive Committee of the Chapter's financial standing at all Executive Committee meetings.

Bronwyn Rempel, Logistician

The Logistician is responsible for taking minutes for all meetings. Will organize any function relating to membership and maintain all records for the Branch (i.e., membership dues, membership lists, contact info). Is responsible for organization of all UMSAE documents including such as but not limited to purchase orders, team budgets, executive budgets, and meeting minutes.

The Faculty Advisor is selected by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba. He or she is responsible for consulting with Executive Committee Officers on all matters pertaining to SAE International, branch policies and the Faculty of Engineering as required.

Sara Taddese, Vice Chair

The Vice-Chair assumes the responsibilities of the Chair should the Chair be unable to perform his/her duties. Also responsible for organizing all social activities held by the Branch. The Vice­-Chair is also responsible for ensuring that all Executive Officers and Directors are performing their respective duties and is responsible for resolving any internal conflicts of UMSAE, whether it be on a personnel basis or resource basis. The Vice-­Chair is responsible for assisting in competition logistics where required including hotel payment, travel coordination, and any other tasks as they arise. The Vice-­Chair will sit on the SAE Manitoba Board as Student Activities Representative and is responsible for all duties of that position.

Kehinde Bamibe, Equipment Director

The Equipment Director is responsible for the well­being of team shared UMSAE property including all tools, shop equipment such as welders and compressors, and trailers. This includes organizing the repair of equipment, justifying upgrades, specifying new equipment requirements and all purchasing responsibilities for shared equipment. Will work alongside each team to organize shop cleanups and investigate where new equipment is required.

The Sponsorship Director is responsible for the planning, organization and execution of all efforts to raise funds in the University, Industry and Community to support vehicle design and construction, and other Branch activities. This will include planning and/or overseeing the annual sponsorship tour, design review(s), Wine and Cheese, and any other events as required by the Executive Committee. Furthermore, the Sponsorship Director must oversee the UMSAE Sponsorship Package, coordinate any changes thereto, and see to it that all obligations to the sponsors are fulfilled by UMSAE in a timely fashion.

Riley Morin, Web Director

The Web Director is responsible for ensuring that UMSAE computing facilities are in an operational condition. They are responsible for maintaining a list of software currently being used by the organization, and how the licenses were obtained. This will include distributing or overseeing the distribution of licenses between the teams and members. They are also responsible for updating the website.

Aditi Dhokiya, Outreach Director

The Outreach Director is responsible for organizing A World in Motion (AWIM) program sessions with participating schools. They will continually work towards creating partnerships with participating schools to raise the profile of Engineering and UMSAE within the community. They are responsible for communicating with AWIM organizers, ordering AWIM kits through the school, scheduling teaching sessions, and communicating volunteer hours to the team.


Promotions

The Promotions Directors are responsible for raising public awareness of UMSAE through the media and public related communications. This includes the creation and distribution of all Branch Newsletters and assistance with the web page. They’re also responsible for promoting UMSAE and the sponsors.

The Aero Design Lead is responsible for the well­being and progress of the Aero Design Project at the University of Manitoba. The Team Leader is to ensure that the design and construction of the vehicle is on schedule and that team members are performing their respective tasks.
