After the show

Meeting with Mila Turaljic and Grégoire Mallard from the Centre for Digital Humanities and Multilateralism (CDHM) at the Geneva Graduate Institute, which works to promote archives related to multilateralism through collaboration between researchers and artists. Created in 2024 at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, the Centre for Digital Humanities and Multilateralism (CDHM) works to digitise, preserve and promote archives related to multilateralism. By bringing together researchers, digital humanities specialists and artists, the Centre aims to promote innovative approaches that stimulate reflection on multilateralism.

Architect and art historian

Architect and art historian Matthieu Jaccard returns to Vidy for one of his performed and illustrated lectures on the winding paths of memory. He starts with the 50th anniversary of Salle 76, La Passerelle in Vidy, to recount a time when ecological, monetary, and oil crises, the proliferation of conflicts, and supremacist sentiments dampened the optimism of the previous decade. All this while keeping in mind the words of the poet Hölderlin: “Where danger grows, so too does that which saves.”

Tiziano Cruz invites spectators to forge links between art, territory and community through an introduction to the ancient ritual of bread making. This practice, intended to honour the dead, encourages cooperation between participants. By exploring this ancestral tradition, Tiziano Cruz helps us to question and reimagine the relationships that structure contemporary societies. The breads made during the workshops will also be incorporated into the Wayqeycuna show.

On 18 June 1994, a few weeks before the end of the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda, Beata Umubyeyi-Mairesse, then a teenager, had her life saved by a Swiss humanitarian convoy. After 15 years of investigation, she wrote Le Convoi, a sober account of a long-term investigation to reclaim a personal and collective history and question the narrative of events. Reading by the author followed by a meeting with Deanna Cavadini, coordinator of the 18 June 1994 convoy for Terre des Hommes.
