Finally getting around to this!

Stats: Podfic (191 stories, about 23.5 hours worth of footage recorded overall), 2 non-traditional audio works (~1 hour), and 11 filks (29 mins).

A bit of a dip in my stats this year. Real life really kicked my ass, plus I really just started reading less fic once I fell down the V-tuber hole, which I still have not yet escaped.

Most popular?

My most popular podfic by hits and kudos was like an empty bottle takes the rain for solo podfic and 9-1-1, What's my Emergency? for multivoice podfic I made/organized. The benefits of podficcing in a large fandom! (911)


Most underappreciated?

I guess it's not surprising considering it's an original work, but I do wish Call Me Menace got a little more attention/engagement because I think it's an incredible story and I really loved making it.


Personal favorite, for whatever reason?

I was thrilled to be able to finally produce the new chapter of I have acquired a child! It was so much fun to revisit and bring back recurring voices, plus welcome new podficcers!

In terms of traditional podfic, I LOVED coastal shelf. I am one of Shannon's staunchest defenders and this story was just...ugh, it broke my heart, it made me think, it gave me so many complicated emotions! Like I said in the notes, I cried while reading it, I cried while recording it, I cried while editing it. It was also a beast to make because it's the longest thing I've made this year, but I'm so pleased with it.

For filk, I really loved making It's Time for Voiceteam. It was one of the easiest filks I've ever written. I wrote it, recorded the guide and edited it in a matter of hours. And then everyone who joined me on this filk was so good!!! Everyone's voices together were beautiful and it really, really brought the whole thing to life. I'm super proud of it.


Most difficult to make?

coastal shelf, like I mentioned earlier. It was long, and I was coming off an illness and I was having a particular inarticulate moment while recording it, but we got her done and I'm proud of it!


Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"?

It's (Still) a Trap for sure! Mostly I couldn't believe we succeeded in getting 90% of the Voiceteam server involved in it! But also it all came together so much easier than the first attempt at this challenge lol. All the editors did an incredible job! Just incredible comedic choices by everyone--editors, singers, peanut gallery, etc. Also, I loved that we made it looping and every comment from someone who tells us they got caught by the loop brings me indescribable joy. XD

Also making Lucky Dog aka the Gilear smut fic. I have no regrets. >:3c

Most fun to make?

Aside from some of the pods I talked about earlier, I had a lot of fun making OCTOPUS TALKING IN ALL CAPS because everyone's silly voices were SO SILLY and they brought me so much joy!


Was there one that didn't turn out the way you wanted?

Mmmm....I don't think so? No, I lied. I wasn't particularly pleased with how I read counterpart, counterpoint because it was Tiebreaker, I was rushed, and man, I was struggling with the tones in it. I'm very certain I mispronounced a bunch of things in it.


Biggest learning experience?

Nothing that comes to mind!


What's next?

Prepping for my upcoming podfic-versary! Uhhh....gotta start working on some longer projects. It feels like something like 90% of my stuff this year was less than 10 minutes. I'd like to get some of my big multivoice projects realized! And I'd really like to finally podfic something for Dungeon Crawler Carl.

Things I Like: TROPES AND AUS. AWESOME LADIES. CHARACTERS OF COLOR. TEAM/FAMILY HIJINKS AND FEELS. OT3s AND MORESOMES ARE A-OKAY. GEN/HET/FEMSLASH (My slash ships are few and far between). I am here for the happy and the humor and the fluff. I mean, I am okay with angst and will forgive you for the critical hits to THE FEEEELS as long as it's balanced out with levity and has a happy ending. I am okay with any rating from gen to suuuuuuper explicit. I also love filk, so if you wanted to record that for me it would be SO welcome. I love music and sound effects, but if it's under narration, I really need the volume of the music/sfx to be on the lower side in order for me to parse what's being said. I've only written a handful of stuff, and if anyone felt compelled to record some of my fics for Critical Role that I haven't already recorded, that would delight me (I would prefer not to get podfics of anything I've written for the MCU/MCU-adjacent fandom only because I've moved on from that fandom)! I'm okay with repods of things I've done as treats, but would prefer not to get them as a main gift. Feel free to use anything you make for me for bingos or other challenges!

Do Not Wants: I am not into character death, dub/non-con/rape, explicit violence, ZOMBIES CAN'T DO EM, dystopias, post-apocalyptic AUs, Omegaverse, slave fic, infidelity, soulmates/soulmate mark AUs, and character-bashing. I've also discovered that I cannot listen to extended scenes in which characters are being wrongfully accused with no one to stand up for them on their behalf. I can skim those scenes in text, but it's harder to skip in audio. So maybe no courtroom drama AUs lol. I would prefer not to get cold reads/chatty reads, as I prefer an edited podfic.

Tropes/AUs I am into: Honestly, as long as the tropes/AUs don't fall into any of my DNW categories, you're pretty much good to go. College/High School AUs! My weakness. Coffee shop AUs! SPACE AUs! Regency AUs (omgggggg Regency AUs)! Characters in a different profession AUs! Genderswap/Rule 63/Spectrum slide (choose your favorite term)! Hella into piiiiiining (with eventual resolved sexual tension), failboats in love, fake dating/married, secret dating/married, kidfic/deaging yes do want, forced to share the same bed, huddling for warmth, accidental baby acquisition, etc. If the canon is sad, I prefer the EVERYBODY LIVES/NOBODY DIES AUs.

Fandoms:

Dungeon Crawler Carl: Listen...I know this is a longshot fandom. It's got like, 83 fics and the vast majority is for ships I don't care for. There is no blanket permission anywhere. But....it's where my joy is right now. I don't have any ships in this fandom and am here for the found family and the plucky, fuck-you, triumph of the human spirit. I adoooore Carl and Donut, together and separately. I love their found family and would also enjoy anything about Carl and/or Donut interacting with their friends/family Katia, Imani, Ellie, Zev, and Mordecai. I don't think she has any fics right now, but if one pops up between now and the due date, I LOVE Samantha and would enjoy anything where she gets to live her best unhinged sex doll head life. You can ignore my DNWs about violence for this fandom. It's an extremely violent universe and I know what I'm getting into.

9-1-1: Tumblr gifsets GOT ME. I don't usually ship slash, but I am not immune to idiots-to-lovers + co-parenting/found family so Buck/Eddie has been very good for me. I would prefer getting together fics over established relationship fics or PWP for this fandom/pairing. The more pining/mutual oblivious yearning, the better. I also like Buck/Tommy! I love all the ladies fandom hates, so please no Ana, Abby, Shannon, Taylor, Natalia or Marisol-bashing. Aside from Buck/Eddie, I would enjoy cute Fire Fam gen fic, Buck being a dad to Chris fic, Hen/Karen fic, Bobby being Buck's dad fic, anything about Ravi, Hen + Chim besties fic, or Chimney-centric fic. I loved Shannon and wish she hadn't been fridged, so I would love AUs where she lives and she and Eddie are amicably divorced and good co-parents. I'd even enjoy OT3 Buck/Eddie/Shannon. I am very sad about Bobby, so would prefer AUs where he's still alive. I know parts of fandom really hate the Buckley and Diaz parents, and it's not a hard no if they're portrayed unflatteringly, but it's not my favorite, and if they're like, cartoonishly evil or abusive that does kind of throw me out of the story. I prefer it when fic acknowledges and treats Buck and Eddie's relationships with their parents as complicated, but generally cordial (as canonically portrayed) because the people on this show are adults who are learning to hold grace for each other while ultimately doing what is best for them emotionally (e.g. Buck accepting that his parents are never going to give him what he wants emotionally, and he's okay with that because he has Bobby and his firefam). I also would prefer not to get woobie!Buck characterization, including fics where Buck is portrayed as unequivocally correct re: The Lawsuit and is owed groveling apologies from everyone at the 118 for the way things went down.

The Murderbot Diaries (books): I am SO WEAK for the found family feels in this universe. Anything about Murderbot and its PresAux humans would be very good for me. I am ESPECIALLY invested in Murderbot and its relationship with Mensah and look, obviously I love gen fic, but the way I feel about Murderbot and Mensah is the same way I feel about Joan and Sherlock from Elementary, which is I love them platonically but I'd also love podfic that explores their relationship in shippy or queerplatonic ways. I also really enjoy Murderbot and its prickly relationship with Gurathin, but that dynamic I specifically prefer to be platonic. I really adore stories about Murderbot having a soft spot for all the mini-Mensahs/Mensah children. Murderbot interacting with fauna is also a reliable favorite for me! I do prefer book canon over the TV show canon atm.

The Mandalorian: My tastes for this fandom are very easy. Single Dad Mando raising his Green Baby. That is all I want. I'm not particularly invested in shipping for this fandom. That being said...I don't hate Din/Bo. The loyal-liege trope is one of my bulletproof kinks so uh, Din pledging his loyalty to Bo? Did in fact activate my "I could ship that" senses. I haven't actively looked for any fic, so if you find one you like that you think I'd like, don't let me stop you! I have recently decided I am also here for the Din/Fennec/Boba OT3.

CQL (The Untamed)/MDZS: My particular catnip for this fandom is Jiang Cheng/Wen Qing--a badass lady who deserved better gently domming a very angry, emotionally tortured man with lots of AU fix-it fic??? MADE FOR ME. In terms of gen fic, I will HAPPILY accept any fic where the women of CQL/MDZS get to be alive and be awesome. As an oldest Asian daughter, I overidentify with Jiang Yanli and want her to have good things, so JYL centric stories where she gets to have an interior life and an identity outside of taking care of her brothers would be Very Good for me. I also really enjoy shipping her with Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen. What can I say? I want her to be pursued by men of TASTE. And honestly? I will read any femslash pairings with her but I've developed a special investment in JYL/WQ. So basically, I believe in OLDER SIBS SUPREMACY! I am extremely into the big sibs Jiang Yanli, Nie Mingjue, Lan Xichen, and Wen Qing OT4 and any permutation of pairings or OT3s within this OT4. In lieu of the OT4, I will accept gen fic about any combination of those 4 bonding over how much they love their younger siblings. In general, I HAVE A LOT OF FEELS ABOUT ALL THE SIBLINGS. So gen fic about the LAN BROS! THE NIE BROS! THE WEN SIBLINGS!! THE YUNMENG TRIO! I WANT THEM. I WANT ALL THE SIBLINGS TO BE HAPPY! If you'd prefer to do something more canon-aligned, I would like post-canon JIANG CHENG AND WEI WUXIAN TO GET OVER THEMSELVES AND BE BROTHERS AGAIN. I'm also extremely invested in jiujiu!Jiang Cheng and any gen stories about him raising Jin Ling would make me cry many tears. I have also discovered that I am VERY INTO girl-Huaisang because the idea of Nie Mingjue being EXTREMELY PROTECTIVE of his baby sister delights me.......and also I ship it, ahem. I am also very into Huaisang/Zonghui (behold! a rare m/m ship!)--THE BODYGUARD ROMANCE I DESERVE. No canon compliant fic for them, I want Zonghui to be ALIVE and DESPERATELY IN LOVE WITH HUAISANG.

Rogue One: Jyn/Cassian break my heart. THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL AND TRAGIC, and naturally all I want are AUs where they get to be PARTNERS/A BATTLE COUPLE/IN LOVE. I do not, under any circumstances, want canon-compliant fic for them. I don't want to be sad about them!!! I'm already sad about them, I don't need more pain! ;_;

Critical Role/The Legend of Vox Machina: For Campaign 1 or The Legend of Vox Machina, you will literally never go wrong with Percy/Vex. Aside from Percy/Vex, I also really like Vex/Jarett, Gilmore/Jarett, Grog/Keyleth, and Kima/Allura. I would also adore gen fic for this fandom because FOUND FAMILY FEELS. I love Percy and Keyleth's friendship SO MUCH, so gen fic for them is especially appreciated.

For Campaign 2, I am basically entirely about Caleb/Jester. And more specifically, what I like about the ship is how much Caleb makes Jester's happiness a priority. I prefer stories which feature Jester's POV or at least a story where Jester's emotions are given priority or equal weight with Caleb's Sad Boi feelings. To put it simply, Jester is my fave, I like the ship because Caleb treats my fave well and I want that dynamic to be front and center.

For Campaign 3, I am super into Fearne/Ashton. Their dynamic is FASCINATING. I also really enjoy Laudna/Imogen.

EXU Calamity left me in shambles emotionally. I'm extremely invested in Laerryn/Loquatious so anything for them would be perfect. I would also love any reincarnation fics for the Ring of Brass or just pre-canon fics in general. Modern AUs where nothing bad ever happens to them? DO WANT.

Dimension 20: I've loved most of the campaigns and sidequests, but fannishly I'm most inclined towards Fantasy High and The Unsleeping City, as well as the Escape to the Bloodkeep sidequest. I am always into the found family and gen shenanigans most of all. As a former church kid, I feel Very Seen by Kristen's evolving relationship with her deities and her queer journey. I love everything about Gilear and if you find fic about his relationship with Fig, I WANT IT. I also love everything about Kingston Brown and would love Kingston-centric podfic. I am EXTREMELY invested in Ricky/Esther and Sofia/Dale, so ship-wise, this is where I live. For the Vile Villains, I just want stories about them being the best evil friends they are. I do enjoy the Lords of the Wing from A Court of Fey and Flowers, so if you'd like to podfic me a story about the cousins being the Messy Bitches they are, I would love that. I enjoyed Mentopolis enormously, and fics about Conrad and The Fix and post-canon fics about The Fix/Pasha would be amazing! Misfits and Magic season 2 set my Sam/Evan ship feels SAILING. I honestly wanted them to get together in season 1 but this season??? Their dynamic??? *chef's kiss* IMMACULATE. Also when Evan asks her if he can be her dog and live in her house??? AWAKENED SOMETHING INSIDE ME. I'm JUST SAYING. Pup play fic exists on AO3...with a bp author... *eyes emoji*

Leverage: Leverage Redemption has reignited the OT3 love and that's mainly what I want. But I also love found family gen and case fic and fun crossovers! Also......Sophie/Harry aka Our Mr. Wilson? I'm ngl, I SHIP IT.

Mass Effect Trilogy- I will forever be aboard the good ship FemShep/Garrus and would LOVE LOVE LOVE podfic for them. I'm also willing to receive cute team gen, fic about KROGAN BABIES, and Tali/Kal Reegar podfic. Also, ANYTHING ABOUT SPACE HAMSTER. I'm not really interested in MaleShep or any of the other romances tbph.

Dragon Age (2 or 3)- Again, I'm mainly interested in FemHawke or FemInquisitor. My VERY FAVORITE DA2 pairing is Hawke/Varric, but I also enjoy Hawke/Sebastian, Merill/Carver, and Isabela/Fenris. Anders can be around but I'd rather he not be a major character. (I'm not asking for Veilguard podfic specifically, but in the event you're podficcing Hawke/Varric fic that's post-Veilguard, I want the AUs WHERE MY MAN IS ALIVE. plz ;_;) My VERY FAVORITE DAI pairing is Inquisitor/Iron Bull--like, that was my gateway into the DA spiral bc I wanted to Ride the Bull. I don't mind Inquisitor/Cullen but I don't read a lot of fic for them because there's just...too much and it's hard to separate the wheat from the chaff iykwim. I'd rather not have Solas present as anything other than an ensemble character. As always, aside from these specified pairings, I also super enjoy cute gen fic and I have the very softest of spots for Cole, so anything about people being kind to Cole is my jam.

Red vs. Blue- York/Carolina is still the Tier 1 OTP. AUs or fix-it canon AUs for them please, because I'm so sad about them ;__; BUT--I recently caught up on the seasons I didn't watch after they killed my boy and uh...I AM ON BOARD THE WASH/CAROLINA SHIP I HAVE MANY FEELINGS ABOUT THEM. Also, Caboose is my One True Love, so Caboose-centric gen fic is everything I could ever want.

Fullmetal Alchemist (anime/manga)- Roy/Riza were my first OTP, in the sense that I only ship them together and not with anyone else. I want them to be in love. It can be set pre-show, during the show, post-show, or in a wild AU--as long as they're in love you cannot go wrong with me. Whether they're desperately pining for each other or happily married, as long as I am DROWNING IN FEELINGS about how much they love each other I will be so so satisfied. LET MY BABES BE IN LOVE, THAT'S IT.

I also really love Lan Fan/Ling Yao, and I also SUPER ENJOY Lan Fan/Ling Yao/Greed. IT IS THE BODYGUARD ROMANCE I DESERVE AND WANT.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku- This is a longshot fandom, but sob, I love Hirotaka/Narumi and would love podfic for them. I would also be okay with OT4 podfic for Hirotaka/Narumi/Kabakura/Hanako, bc fandom has opened my eyes to the polyamorous possibilities and on rewatch, the OT4 vibes are REAL.

Spy x Family- another longshot fandom, but I am, as always, into the found family-ness of it all. I also SUPER ship Loid/Yor and would love podfic for them. Bond is Best Boi so fics from his POV would be fantastic!

Elementary- Joan and Sherlock are my OTP. I am a-okay with stories involving them being platonic bffs, but if it's shippy you will own my soul forever. FICS ABOUT CLYDE WOULD BE LOVED AND PETTED AND CLUTCHED CLOSE TO MY HEART.

Ouran High School Host Club (anime/manga)- a small fandom, I know, but I would love anything involving the Host Club being their RIDICULOUS OVER-DRAMATIC SELVES and having WACKY ADVENTURES. Also leaning more gen, rather than shippy with this fandom. That being said, my preferred pairings are Mori/Haruhi and Kyouya/Haruhi if you can't find anything that works for you. In terms of OT3s, I do like Kyouya/Tamaki/Haruhi!

Tortall (Protector of the Small books specifically)- I am all about Keladry. KELADRYYYYYYYYY. KEL BEING AWESOME. KEL BONDING WITH ALANNA. KEL AND HER BOYS. KEL AND HER PEOPLE AT NEW HOPE. Gen is fantastic, but you should know I ship Kel/EVERYONE. I wrote a manifesto about her with fic recs here.

Avatar: The Last Airbender- I've been on a Zuko/Katara kick lately, so please indulge my feels for this ship, plz and thanks.

The Punisher/Daredevil series specifically- Frank/Karen. Period. End. I'd prefer you steer away from stories where she's Perfect Pure Karen who's put on a pedestal--what I like about this ship is that they see each other's darkness, recognize it, and accept it.

Most popular?

My most popular podfic by hits was I'm falling apart (and all I want is to trust you) for solo podfic and in which 2 plus 2 equals… 5? for multivoice podfic I made/organized. Excluding pod_together works and multivoices I didn't produce, by kudos, my most popular solo podfic was Honey, I Raised His Kid? and my most popular multivoice was again, "in which 2 plus 2 equals… 5?" 911 fandom continuing to dominate my stats this year!


Most underappreciated?

It's not like I don't know fandom cares more about M/M shipping than characters of color, especially if they're women and it's F/F, but the amount of attention my Hen/Karen podfics (Study Nap and it's not picture perfect...) got in comparison to everything else I podficced in 911 this year is unsurprising and yet...


Personal favorite, for whatever reason?

I don't appear in this except as whispers and in the bloopers, but I'm incredibly proud of and delighted by the D&D: Honor Among Thieves/The Muppets multivoice I directed and organized. Directing my friends as they made silly Muppet voices was so much fun!

In terms of traditional podfic, I had fun making Supervisor Leonide is Objectively Attractive .ptp.

For filk, I really loved making What Is This (Voiceteam) Feeling? with horchata.


Most difficult to make?

Definitely the Hazbin Hotel podfic I made for one of the winning bidders on my auction for Fandom Trumps Hate. I wasn't in the fandom at all, I had to do so many different accents and character voices, then add sound effects and music. Plus it was one of the longer works I produced all year. It was a lot of work!


Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"?

I have extremely fond memories of making Animal Crossing gibberish noises for the Animal Crossing podfic we made for Voiceteam. The experience of recording it all live together and dying at the way the gibberish noises were or weren't coming across over Discord was peak Voiceteam shenanigans.

Also, horchata roping me into singing a song about penises was one of my favorite, "WELP, I guess we're doing this!" moments of the year.


Most fun to make?

Aside from the D&D:HAT/Muppets multivoice and Animal Crossing multivoice, I had a lot of fun making as lucky as us because it's so goddamn funny. Third Wheel Ravi who thought Buck was already out as queer/Buck and Eddie were already together is my favorite genre of 911 fic.


Was there one that didn't turn out the way you wanted?

Hmmmm!! I think while I love the way the D&D:HAT/Muppets crossover podfic came out, I wish I'd had the time to add more sound effects aside from the delightful ones silverandblue made for me. I guess I could still add that...

A little later this year BUT!

Stats: Podfic (222 stories, a little over 29 hours worth of footage recorded overall), 6 non-traditional audio works (~22 mins), 1 podcast (about 2 hours, 26 minutes), 11 filks (~39 mins), and 1 comic.

I was on track to have a record year but then I hit a slump once the school year started up again, sigh. But this year I did much more non-traditional audio works and a whole lot of soundscaping (like, SO MUCH SOUNDSCAPING)! Also, my silly little discord shenanigans were turned into a comic strip.


Most popular?

My most popular podfic by hits was texts from dispatch for multivoices and a leaf falls on loneliness for solo podfic. Okay, come through, 911 fandom! Excluding pod_together works and multivoices I didn't produce, by kudos, my most popular solo podfic was drop your will in the bucket before you kick it and my most popular multivoice was "texts from dispatch". Wow, so this is what it's like to create for a juggernaut slash ship!


Most underappreciated?

Idk, I made a LOT of niche podfic this year, especially niche femslash podfic, so none of the hits/kudos rates are particularly surprising. It does make me sad a little that TTRPG fandom pods get so little attention because I think the multivoice ACOFAF podfic about the Lords of the Wing I made with deepestbluesky and TheArcher was hilarious. TheArcher's Squak was PERFECT.


Personal favorite, for whatever reason?

Oh man, I made so many things I'm fond of this year! How to choose...

In terms of traditional podfic, I'm extremely proud of my certainty is wild, weaving because the voice memo scene I adapted came out exactly as I hoped it would! Also, pretty proud of the performance in The Daycare Worker and the End of the World.

For filk, I relished the chance to finally polish up and release Be Prepared (To Write a Blanket Permission Statement.

And for a non-traditional audio fanwork, I happen to think our infomercial for the Podfic Posting Helper is GENIUS.


Most difficult to make?

Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"?

99 Podfics for Voiceteam, because it was a trap designed specifically for me and I went into it with eyes wide open. There may come a time when I don't end up wrangling a massive collaboration but it certainly wasn't this year. I do believe this one involved 80 people.


Most fun to make?

All the short little soundscapes I made for the Sea Witch challenge for Voiceteam. The punchline is the same every time but I happen to think they're hilarious and I cackled while making them the entire time. >:3c


Was there one that didn't turn out the way you wanted?

Perhaps 99 Podfics?? If only because I wish we'd been able to hit our goal of capturing 90% of the server.


Biggest learning experience?

Mmmm, did I learn anything new this year?? I don't think so...


What's next?

Oh god, I have to think about what I'm going to do for my 11th podfic anniversary on January 29th! Maybe it'll be the first part of the Synoverse series which I'd resolved to do last year and then......didn't. orz

Stats: Podfic (233 stories, about 35 hours worth of footage recorded overall), 2 not!fics/non-traditional audio works (~31 mins), 2 podcasts/commentaries (about 2 hours, 37 minutes), 8 filks (~27 mins), 2 podvids (~7 minutes), 1 mini-fic (that I wrote FOR POINTS, but whatever IT COUNTS)

This year was very much about the short and sweet. This is the most number of podfics I've ever produced, but not the most amount of audio I've ever produced. About 75% of the work I produced this year was less than 10 minutes.


Most popular?

Excluding my pod-together works and multivoices I didn't produce, my most popular podfic by hits was OK with being OK. By kudos, my most popular solo podfic was Adoption by Defenestration; or, A Family Can Be A Fox Demon, Its Jinchuuriki, and Three Dozen Highly-Trained Assassins.


Most underappreciated?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that gen fic/podfic gets uh, considerably less attention compared to fanworks for juggernaut ships, but I am a little :( that the Eddie character study But It Often Rhymes has gotten like 6% of the attention that "OK with being OK" got. (And I know I literally only just posted volver al punto de partida a few days ago but...not even 1 kudos? ;_;)


Personal favorite, for whatever reason?

In terms of traditional podfic, I'm extremely proud of And let me speak to th'yet unknowing world because it was the first time I've ever read something in iambic pentameter outside of high school English class, so that was new, but also I was just really proud of the performance. Reading it made me cry, performing it made me cry, listening back to it during editing made me cry and it's just such a beautiful work. I loved every minute of making it.

I'm also really proud of the Space Bunny filks I wrote and recorded! Hop! Goes My Heart was so fun and bubbly and being able to write a filk based on "Never Ever" has been a longtime dream and I'm glad I made it happen.


Most difficult to make?

Probably Mirage Arcane, (Modern AU Vox Machina plays in a d&d campaign together) because of all the sound effects and the music underscoring to differentiate in-character from out-of-character scenes.


Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"?

What is Flan? Wrong Definitions Only, the ridiculous Voiceteam multivoice I organized that ended up with 60 podficcers (+ 1 offspring of a podficcer) lending their voices. Every year I decide I want to see how many more podficcers I could wrangle into a single project.


Most fun to make?

Playing Mark Catney (Mark Watney as a cat) in ground control to meow-jer tom was a ridiculously fun time, with some great bloopers.

In terms of cover art, the cover I made for If You Give a Murderbot Access to Entertainment Media is the greatest thing I have ever made.

Biggest learning experience?

Well I can tell you I did not learn from my previous vidding experience and decided to make another podvid this year which predictably drove me crazy, but WHATEVER. I DID IT. IT'S DONE. Other than that, I don't think I did anything new or crazy this year...oh! When I got a new computer to record with and my audio peaks got very peaky, I did learn about the wonders of the compressor tool and that has made such a difference in my audio mastering process.


What's next?

I recently barrelled past 1100 podfics! It'll be my...*counts* 10th podfic anniversary on January 29th! I'm hoping to get the first part of the Synoverse series out by then, and then publishing the rest of that series throughout the year.

I mean, I am okay with angst and will forgive you for the critical hits to THE FEEEELS as long as it's balanced out with levity and has a happy ending. I'm okay with anything up to an explicit rating.

Tropes/AUs I'm into: Honestly, as long as the tropes/AUs don't fall into any of my DNW categories, you're pretty much good to go. Coffee shop AUs! SPACE AUs! Regency AUs (omgggggg Regency AUs)! Characters in a different profession AUs! Genderswap/Rule 63/Spectrum slide (choose your favorite term)! Hella into piiiiiining (with eventual resolved sexual tension), battle couples, failboats in love, fake dating/married, secret dating/married, kidfic/deaging yes do want, forced to share the same bed, huddling for warmth, accidental baby acquisition, etc. If the canon is sad, I prefer the EVERYBODY LIVES/NOBODY DIES AUs.

DNWs: I am not into character death, dub/non-con/rape, explicit violence, ZOMBIES CAN'T DO EM NOPE NOPE NOPE, dystopias, post-apocalyptic AUs, A/B/O, slave fic, infidelity, soulmates/soulmate mark AUs, and character-bashing. I've also discovered that I cannot listen to extended scenes in which characters are being wrongfully accused with no one to stand up for them on their behalf. I can skim those scenes in text, but it's harder to skip in audio. So maybe no courtroom drama AUs lol.

10/30- 1 cheat

The idea of a daily round-up began with silverandblue’s efforts for our team in the first round of Voiceteam. During subsequent Voiceteams/Voiceteam Mystery Boxes, I’ve taken that on for my teams. But this kind of work isn’t possible without a couple of prerequisites and a lot of teamwork.

First, you need to have a spreadsheet or some sort of way to organize team projects. Without LittleRedRobinHood’s spreadsheets, silverandblue and I would never have been able to compile and track what sort of projects the team has in the works. (This year, I borrowed and modified LRRH’s spreadsheets from last Voiceteam for the first round and fishandchipsandvinegar did some tweaking to it for the second round.) Ideally, your spreadsheets should be responsive to what the challenges are. A multivoice sign up tab and a cover art request tab is useful to have any week, and you can make more specific spreadsheets for challenges (like Podfic Broken Telephone and Song Lyrics Connect), etc.

Once you have that foundation, you need someone who’s obsessive organized (or at least cares enough about points to be TEMPORARILY organized coughmecough), nosy detail-oriented, and terminally online available enough/has good time management skills to check through the spreadsheet and compile a list of what projects are in progress and what they need. Depending on how prolific and/or how many collaborative projects you have going on in a particular week, the round-ups can be simple or complicated. And depending on how quickly your team moves, you may be okay with only doing a round-up post every 2 or 3 days, or it can be daily. (I've been doing daily this Voiceteam because we have a lot of new people).

As you can see, this was a pretty intensive week in terms of projects XD. They're not always this crazy! For example, here's one from an earlier round during Voiceteam 2021:



I find if you're a team that's doing a lot more collaborative projects, it's helpful to have more updates just so the team can be aware of what roles need to be filled and when parts are due.
