By embracing and encouraging diversity, equity and inclusion, we can make a positive impact in the Portland Metropolitan area and beyond.
Above all, equity starts with action. We’re starting within our walls by creating a culture that puts listening and vulnerability first. From trainings that cover topics like unconscious bias and constructive feedback to company-wide conversations that surface the experiences of under-represented communities, we’re building authenticity and open communication into our company DNA. We may not always get it right the first time, but we see every conversation as an opportunity for growth.
At Xenium, everyone’s voice is important—and we’re actively working to amplify those voices. As we strive to build a more equitable community, we look at ways that our organization can make an impact. From seeking out new clients and vendors from under-represented communities to partnering with the organizations that serve them, we are always working to give everyone a seat at the table. We believe that by listening, doing and always believing in people, we can continue to make a difference, both in our organization and the world at large. Subcommittee: Invest in Our People
The DEIB Team sub-committee of “Invest in Our People” is committed to creating a workplace where respect, equity, and belonging are foundational principles. We aim to ensure every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered to share their unique perspectives and talents. To achieve this, we will:
Implement XenConnex Learning Conversations: Facilitate regular discussions that promote understanding and appreciation of diverse lived experiences.
Provide Comprehensive Employee Training: Offer continuous education on EDI principles to dismantle systemic barriers and foster inclusive behaviors.
Collaborate with Xenium’s Culture Integration & Team Enhancement (XCITE) team, to organize events and initiatives that highlight and honor the diverse backgrounds and contributions of our team members.
By taking these actions, we will cultivate a culture that strengthens our organization and enriches our community.
Subcommittee: Look Beyond Our Four Walls
The DEIB Team sub-committee of “Look Beyond Our Four Walls” is committed to actively network and engage with broad and diverse communities, including our DEIB-focused clients. We aim to foster understanding and build strong relationships in the DEIB space through the following actions:
Community Involvement: Participate in and support local events, initiatives, and organizations that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Meaningful Service Opportunities: Develop and offer volunteer programs and service projects that address DEIB-related needs and challenges.
Relationship Building: Create and nurture partnerships with diverse community groups and DEIB-focused organizations to share knowledge and collaborate on initiatives.
Through these efforts, we will strengthen our connections, enhance our understanding, and contribute positively to the communities we serve and our clients’ businesses.
Subcommittee: Cultural Belonging and Career Support
The DEIB Team sub-committee of ” Cultural Belonging and Career Support ” is committed to creating a workplace environment that mirrors the diversity of our community. Our actionable mission includes:
Promotion of Diverse Talent: Actively support and advance the careers of underrepresented groups through mentorship programs, career development workshops, and leadership training.
Proactive Outreach: Engage with diverse talent pools through community events, partnerships with minority-focused organizations, and intentional recruitment campaigns.
Comprehensive Training: Provide continuous education and training on diversity, equity, and inclusion to all employees, emphasizing the importance of unbiased decision-making.
Implementing Inclusive Hiring Practices: Regularly review and refine our recruitment processes to eliminate biases and ensure equitable opportunities for all candidates.
By taking these concrete steps, we aim to foster a culture of belonging where every individual feels valued and empowered to contribute their unique skills and perspectives. Our goal is to help build a diverse workforces that drive innovation and ensure the success and sustainability of our organization and the communities we serve.
