Please Welcome Corban Stanley Hall, born Nov 24, 09

Our latest addition to the Halls of Roanoke arrived November 24th; Corban Stanley Hall. He is a very pleasant personality that looks like his Dad in the face, or at least that's what his Dad thinks. His name is one that Travis has liked for a while, it's a Hebrew word meaning "given to God". His middle name is in honor of Travis' brother Stanley and his father Cline Stanley. Stanley is also the name of Travis' Great Grandfather. Corban has a regal look, and is always interested in studying the face of the person holding him. We are very grateful to have him in our family, he brings a sweet spirit with him.
Needless to say, going from 2 to 3 kids is something like going from 2 to 20 kids, but we're adjusting.
Renee is a wonderful mother and is taking it easy recovering very well from a third C-section.

Galax Banjo Shoot-out

Image
Travis competed last weekend in a banjo competition in Galax, VA.
Galax is a Bluegrass Mecca and Travis made off with 4th place in the competition playing his self-composed Virginia Boy Breakdown.
Way to make 50 bucks Travis!

Another Triathlon - Smith Mountain Lake!

Image
Image
Yesterday Travis participated in his second triathlon, it was the Appalachian Power Triathlon at Smith Mountain Lake, at sprint distances. The water was 66 degrees and so a wet suit was a must. Addie didn't recognize her Dad in the black suit and ran away from him when he tried to pick her up on the beach, it was his "Spiderman suit". The race was solid with a finish time of 1 hour 34 min beating the previous triathlon by 8 and a half minutes. 5 of those 8 minutes were found in the swim and the rest in the bike. Mom and Dad and Kenny Hall came out to the race. It was a great experience and I can't wait to do another one...in a couple months.

Concrete Bust!!

If you’ve ever thought it would be nice to have a shower in a bathroom, you’re not alone. We thought the same thing about our basement bathroom. So I rented a jack hammer and did something about it. This posting will be devoted to the progress of our bathroom renovation, and for those of you checking this blog often you will be pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this bathroom will one day look. But, like a toad in a swamp, right now it looks rather…bumpy, slimy and at one time it was very very smelly. Fortunately, the smelly days are behind us.  Enjoy…and wish me luck!

Easter!

ImageImageFor those of you who thought the YeeHall Blog was out of commission...well here's a post for you! We had a fabulous Easter this year spending time chasing easter eggs and drooling yellow peeps (that's how Callie spent it at least). Addie was an aggressive easter egg hunter; even throwing some elbows. In the end, we had a lot of cracked boiled eggs but two very happy girls.

Halloween and Fall Fest!

Renee's Dad and younger siblings came up to celebrate a weekend of fall fun in Virginia. We went trick-or-treating Friday night. Travis was Uncle Sam. Renee found an old blue sport coat at good will and made really long red and white striped drawstring pants. We really had fun with Halloween this year!
Saturday afternoon, we went up to Coles Knob Farm and took a "hay" ride over to the apple orchard, picked apples, pressed them in the cider press, and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Renee's Aunt, Uncle, and cousins came up from Winston-Salem, North Carolina to join them for Coles Knob fun.

It was a gorgeous, 70 degree fall day both days! That is very unusual for the mountains of Virginia. What great memories!

We went to cheer Daddy on in a triathalon in Charlotte last weekend. It was fun.
