Yoho!

I'm having my semester breaks now so that is the reason why I have time to spend to watch a lot of drama, manga and playing games. Also, not to mention to post something on this blog. Teehee.

So, since there were nothing much to do I'm going to make a review about one of my favorite Japanese Drama called Mei-chan no Shitsuji or Mei's Butler. It is an adaptation from a manga which I'm going to read later on and I probably will talk about it too in the future.

This drama has 10 episodes and is a comedy and romance type of genre. Directed by Ishikawa Junichi, Kinoshita Takao and Iwata Kazuyuki. This drama begin to be aired on 2009. Though, it's still fun to watch it nowadays and I myself has been watching this a few times.

I rate this drama as a

Why 4 stars?
This story is about a girl named Mei who have a very humble life since she was born. Her parents open a small udon restaurant at the countryside where she lived. She go through her everyday life as a high school student with her friends, Kento and Natsumi. Before going to school, she will help her parents at the restaurant and came to school with her hair covered with some flour.

Not long after that, her parents died in accident and she have no one else. At this moment, Rihito appeared and offered to be a butler to Mei and discovered a secret of her life. Since then, her life changed drastically.

I love comedy very much and it's fun to watch Mei itself going through her new life. Having a butler by her side made her less lonely and her new friends who hated her at first slowly becoming her strength to go on with her new life.

The ridiculous logic content in this stories somehow made the story alive and japanese comedy drama is known to be doing something like that. Some part were also exaggerated to attract the audience and laugh about it. Even I talked about it after I watched the whole series. I mean like, how can a child fly a helicopter by herself and learnt how to fly it at the age of 4. =.="

There's much more about this drama and I can't afford to fit it all in this post because I know it will be too long to read. So, if you're curious about how Mei's life is gonna be it is best for you to watch it. :D

35-sai no Koukosei or also known as 35-year-old High School Student

A Japanese drama that I watched recently. This school drama has only 11 episodes and aired last year. Directed by Sakuma Noriyoshi, Nagumo Seiichi and Nishino Maki.

I think I will give this drama rating as much as

So, what made me rate this drama as a 4 star drama?
First of all, this drama is about a 35 year old woman named Baba Ayako went to a high school not to be a teacher but a student. The reason is unknown even from the audience perspective of view. It will made you wonder so much much about it and try to pick up the little clue in each episode. For me myself, I still can't figure out why did she went to the Kunikida High School in the first place? Is it some kind of mission or because of her past? There are a few conflicts and this drama manage to get the audience confused about the answer together with the other character inside. So, overall I think that this drama succeed to draw our attention to solve the mystery together.

Other than that, this is not like our typical Malaysia drama always has the same theme and no variety at all. This drama is about how the high school society nowadays that involved in bullying and hurting others mentally and emotionally. Suicide, wrist-cutting, teacher as a failure, social ranking in class, how violent and brutal a student can be and much more. Each episode is a different story and plot but everything is connected with each other and made us wonder what's gonna happen next and the answer is really different than what we think. Thus, this drama also gave me unexpected ending and unexpected answer. Literally, I don't expect this to be that and that to be this. I even cried a little in some few episodes but it was not just about some sad stories but happy and funny stories too. This drama is all about psychology indeed.

I mean like, what the heck a 35 year old woman who drove a really nice blue sports car and have a very nice sense of fashion style, is doing in a school, to study and graduate together with her fellow classmates aged around 17 and to try to live her life to the fullest as a high school student?

If you want to know the reason behind her coming to Kunikida High School, go watch it yourself. =D

Toodles!
