WOW!

Holy cow it has been a long time since my last post.  I'm not promising anything, but I'm gonna try to post pics of our summer vacation across the country.  It included 19 states and more than 6000 miles!  Stay tuned!

Preschool!!!

Since Milo doesn't go to school for another 2 years, I decided to do a co-op preschool with some friends.  Milo was so excited to start.  Here he is with his backpack and shoes on - more than an hour early!

Back to School

Everyone ready for a new year!

Hannah - 5th Grade - big woman on campus

Emily - 4th Grade - sooo excited to be back at school

Lucy - 1st Grade - wishing she was still in Kindergarten

Milo - almost 4 yrs old - wishing he could go to school

Emily was so excited to go to school, that she woke up at 4, then woke up her sisters. I woke up when I heard them all chatting and giggling in their room. When I went in they were playing their DS's and reading books. I had to explain that 4am was way too early to be awake. They insisted they would never be able to go back to sleep. I didn't hear one more word from them until I woke them at 7!

Hannah and Max seemed indifferent about having to go to school, Emily was way beyond excited, and Lucy was terrified.  So terrified that it took her almost 2 hours to fall asleep! Thank goodness they were perfectly happy when I brought them to the schools. Even Lucy, who was greeted with a hug from a kindergarten friend, happily walked into her classroom.

I am so happy to have the kids back in school. Even Milo was okay with everyone leaving this morning. He and I got doughnuts and chocolate milk for breakfast then went shopping and to Jump Up (padded gym with trampolines and a pit of foam for jumping in)! I think we'll be okay without the big kids at home. We should be able to find SOMETHING to do!

Vegas Baby!!

Image
Kids' first trip to Las Vegas (Emily was beyond tired and grumpy for a photo-op)

Caesar's Palace Statue
Because of where I chose to park, we got to see A LOT
of Casesar's Palace statues. Maybe too many.

Statues at the Luxor
Some of the kids were in posing moods. Others - not so much!
Image
Milo was one of those posers!
Image
So happy to have one of everyone, even if not everyone is happy!
Image
I was so excited to hang out at the pool after spending most of the day
in 100 degree plus weather walking the strip.  The kids lasted 15 minutes!!!

Blurry pic at the Bellagio fountain show. So happy we took the time to go
and then wait for a show. It was great! Great enough that we stayed for another!

Big Boy

Seems like just yesterday that Milo was this tiny baby.
Image
Then he was this baby - learning to smile.
Image
And then this baby - sitting up.
Image
He's not a baby anymore! He'll be FOUR in September!
The reason I'm blogging about him......
He gave his first talk in Primary today!!!! He did an awesome job too. He's usually way shy in front of so many people, but today he was a different boy. He got right up and repeated my words right into the microphone. He did do a little giggling and most of his words couldn't be understood, but HE DID IT!!! I was so excited! But then I was sad because his dad and his best buddy, Max had to miss it. Would it be horrible of me to ask the Primary presidency if he can do it again next week?

That was my last, first primary talk. Oh, how I'm going to miss those.

Lilith Fair 2010

Image
My favorite little sister gave me two tickets to Lilith Fair in San Diego California.
I decided to take my awesome husband.  Our wonderful friends, the Lowrys, were chosen
to keep our children in line.  We left early Wednesday morning after we dropped the kids off.
After a quick trip to the mall for lunch, we headed to the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre.
Image
After waiting in line then walking around for a while, the music finally started.  This is what
we got to watch and listen to first.  "Kitten" is what they called themselves.  Chloe Chaidez
has a great, unique voice.  Unfortunately, she's a total psycho.  Granted, she's only 15
and has a lot of crazy energy.  She was jumping, spinning, climbing, and even
spitting Gatorade at the audience.  I have to admit, the music was fun and catchy,
but I could have done without the dramatics.  And yes, those are knee pads
that she is wearing!
Image
Next up was The Weepies.  Definitely my favorite!  We were so close and they
were so personable.  Their music was awesome!  I wish they could have played
much longer.  They played for less than 45 minutes!  I think they're my new
favorite group!

After they played, someone brought their 2 year-old (Theo) to them.  So cute!!
We also saw Susan Justice on this small stage.  Then we were off to the big show.  Our tickets were
originally for lawn seats, but because of the low ticket sales, they moved us up to chairs!
We couldn't believe how empty the seats were!  No wonder 10 shows were canceled!  This picture was taken seconds before the main show started.  Empty!!!
Image
The main show included, A Fine Frenzy (great voice), Brandi Carlisle, Jenni Rivera (sung mostly
in Spanish with a Mariachi band as accompaniment), Miranda Lambert, and
SARAH MCLACHLAN!!!
Miranda was a lot of fun - she got everyone really into it.  Sarah was brilliant, just as
I knew she would be.  She played some songs off her newest album.  I'll definitely be
getting those!
It was a great night!!  Definitely unforgettable!  Thanks again Riss!!
