Though this might be of interest to some of you:

I'm supporting a proposal to create a new Q&A website for questions about traditional artwork and handmade items.

It's built on the same software as stackoverflow.com, a hugely popular site where over seven million programmers help each other with difficult programming problems. On Stack Overflow the audience votes for the best answer, so the answer you want is usually right at the top, not on page five.

I'm hoping that a site for questions about traditional artwork and handmade items would have the same kind of network effect and turn into an amazing resource.

The proposal process is going on here:

http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/77518/arts-and-crafts?referrer=ikuB4GEJcHbivjBCW2knwQ2

If you're interested in participating, go to that URL and click on the green "Commit" button.

Thanks!

If you want your medication to be taken by actual people, maybe don't list "heart attack" as the most common side effect?

(it's followed by a *, with the * explaining that this is a long-term, high-dose thing, but seriously! That's not going to establish trust in patients)

Gastroscopy was okay, and I did manage to calm down beforehand. There are no visible ulcers or anything else too bad going on, but the gastritis is visible and they have taken a biopsy for Helicobacter pylori testing.

I am a bit drowsy/sleepy, but otherwise fine and will spend the rest of the day playing Fallout 3 and rewatching Babylon 5. Because B5 is awesome.

Bad: had a bad day, came home in a foul mood

Good: spent 30 minutes kicking and punching the punching bag

Good: my Nexus 5X arrived

Bad: tomorrow at 7:30, I have an endoscopy

My Nexus 5 phone is breaking down. It randomly shuts down without warning. It's mostly okay while it's connected to a battery, so it might be a hardware thing (I do drop it quite often...)

I already ordered its successor, the Nexus 5X, but that's going to take a few days to arrive.

Since I don't really have a working computer anymore, my phone is pretty much my connection to the internet. Maybe I'll set up one of our old phones later today so I can at least use that until the 5X arrives.

Also, the heater broke two days ago. At least we are having a mild November so far, but it's still getting cold and I would really like to take a hot shower... But it's hopefully getting fixed today.

My hair is currently shoulder length. I hate that length and want to have it cut short again later this week. I do that every few years (last time was two years ago), so I'm not complete new to short hair, but I am not finding a good inspiration at the moment.

Anyone got some? Short hair for me means short - chin length isn't short ;-)

I have completely straight hair which is neither very thick nor very thin. And I need something that doesn't need much love - I really don't want to spend much time styling it.

Today, I got blood drawn (thyroid hormones test) and had my flu vaccine. Interestingly, the arm that had blood drawn hurts more than the one that got the vaccine.

Unless I push where the needle went. Then my right arm hurts a LOT. Guess I won't be sleeping on my right side tonight. Dammit, I always sleep on my right side - I need to remember this next year.

Yesterday, I started looking through the unanswered questions on the health stackexchange. There's quite a lot of them, unfortunately, but I like answering them so far. Searching pubmed and Google scholar, quoting articles, providing links, etc. So far I have written six answers, received ten upvotes for them and had one answer accepted. I was a bit nervous at first because often I can't answer every single aspect of a question, but so far nobody has had criticism. Nice.

I also have a few points on other Stackexchange sites, but nothing spectacular anywhere. Any of you on there?

Those "Volkswagen emission scandal movie to be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio" headlines are a joke, right?

Right?

I, just,... words fail me.

Today, I drove to work (6:30 to 7:15) in the dark for the first time.

I don't like this. At least at the moment it's still light when I come home, but around mid-November, that too will be over.

And yesterday, the heating in the house just turned itself off. Had to take a cold shower after my workout. That's just not fair. It's running again now, so I am going to take an extra long hot shower before bed :-)

Today, I had my first coffee in 6 weeks. And my stomach doesn't seem to hate me.

Also, there's flowing water on Mars. How cool is that?

Looks like I am looking for media recommendations here all the time. But here goes:

Movies:
* basically anything that won't offend my intellect and feminist sensibilities too much. Can be sci-fi, fantasy, drama, thriller, action, comedy, I don't care. Basically, feel free to just list your favorites in the comments.

TV series:
* something funny and light would be awesome - I adored 30 Rock, for example. I have watched How I Met Your Mother and hate The Big Bang Theory
* shows from other genres are fine, as long as they aren't too exhausting (think Breaking Bad or House of Cards - my attention span is shot), so maybe some crime show?
* unfortunately, Netflix Germany an Amazon Prime Germany are conspiring against me here, so lots and lots of things are either unavailable to me (Parks and Recreation) or only available in German

Documentaries:
* nature in all its forms (currently watching Life)
* interesting biographies and such (loved 20 feet from Stardom)

Playstation 3 games:
* fantasy like the Elder Scroll games
* science fiction like Mass Effect
* sneaky action like Assassin's Creed or The Last of Us
* overt action like things I used to play on the PC
* anything else you enjoyed - I'm not actually picky here, I just have a really hard time deciding

The new cat platform has been well received.

In the interest of posting a bit more, I am looking for 31 questions for a daily meme for October.

So, just throw one to three questions about anything you want to know from/about me at me in the comments and I'll answer them (answers might be access-locked) in October.

Since I am currently stuck at home again (fever since Wednesday), I am looking for things that are not too complicated to take the boredom away. I'm mainly watching 30 Rock because it's fun and not too exhausting, but I'd also like to play something on my smartphone.

Recent games I have enjoyed: Hook, The Room, Osmos, World of Goo

Things I tried and didn't like: Don't get fired, Fallout Shelter (boring after two days)

Anyone playing anything nice?
