Say what you spent.
It's logged.
The expense tracker you talk to. Say what you spent, snap the receipt, or let Apple Pay log every card tap, and the budgets, accounts and insights build themselves out of that. If you want bank feeds, a shared household budget or an Android version, this is not your app.

Three ways to log it
- Say it. Tap the coral mic at the bottom of Home and say it the way you'd tell a friend: “12 euros lunch at Beshamel”. Or rattle off the whole day on the walk home. You get one transaction per thing you mentioned, with amount, merchant, tag and date.
- Snap it. Point the camera at the receipt, or pick a photo or screenshot you already have. Every line gets read. Faded thermal paper is about the only thing that beats it.
- Let Apple Pay log it. One setup, in Apple's Shortcuts app, on the Transaction trigger that hides at the bottom of the list under Wallet. Fiddly once. After that every card tap opens Cash Book and logs itself, and you do nothing at all.
Say it out loud, once.
Tap the mic and describe what you spent the way you'd tell a friend. Amount, merchant, tag and date land in the log, in any major language. Everything stays editable before you move on, which matters, because a mumbled merchant name sometimes comes back spelled like nobody's shop.

A receipt becomes a transaction.
Point the camera at a receipt, or pick a photo or screenshot you already have. Every line gets read. A supermarket bill or a bank notification lands as transactions, not as a photo you never open again.

One month, three honest answers.
How much you spent, and against what. Where it changed, by tag. How income and expense stacked up over six months. A summary you can read in a minute, not a dashboard of fifteen numbers you learn to ignore.

A budget that fits under your thumb.
A monthly or weekly allowance sits right under the big number on Home, and each tag can carry its own with a thin progress bar. Red appears only when you're over. Nothing nags you before that, and nothing congratulates you after.

Your data stays yours
Transactions live on your iPhone. Turn on sync and they live in your iCloud account, which is also yours. There is no Cash Book account to create and no server of ours holding your history, so there is nothing of yours for us to leak later. One honest asterisk: voice clips and receipt photos do leave the phone. They go to an AI model to be read, they come back as transactions, and they are not kept afterwards. Cash Book never touches a bank. The privacy policy spells out what is and isn't collected, in plain language.

Frequently asked questions
How does voice expense logging work?
You tap the mic and say what you spent, in your own words. One purchase, or the whole day in one go. The audio goes to an AI model, which sends back one transaction per thing you mentioned, each with an amount, a merchant, a tag and a date. They appear on Home with an Edit option, so nothing sticks without your say-so.
Is Cash Book free?
For seven days, yes, with everything unlocked. After that it is $39.99 a year through Apple, or $19.99 once for lifetime access. There is no free tier waiting underneath, which we would rather tell you here than spring on you in week two. No ads either, and nothing of yours gets sold to anyone.
Does Cash Book connect to my bank?
No, and it never will. There is no bank login, no card number, no account to create. Card purchases can still log themselves, though: a one-time Shortcuts automation on Apple's Transaction trigger passes the amount and merchant of every Apple Pay tap to Cash Book. That is the only route Apple gives any app, and it runs on your phone.
How does Apple Pay auto-logging work?
Apple gives no app an API for card taps, so a Shortcuts automation is the only way in. Open Shortcuts, add an automation on the Transaction trigger, which hides at the bottom of the list under Wallet, set it to run immediately, then add the Cash Book action Log purchase and map Amount and Merchant. Fiddly once. After that every tap opens Cash Book and logs itself.
Does Cash Book work offline?
Mostly. The keypad, budgets, accounts, search and insights all work with no signal at all. Voice and snap do not, because the audio or the photo has to reach an AI model and come back as transactions. So on a plane, or in a supermarket basement, you tap the black plus and type it. Three taps for a normal entry.
Which languages and currencies does it support?
The interface ships in 26 languages, English and Spanish through to Japanese and Arabic. Voice logging is looser than that: it understands spoken expenses in any major language, and it copes with a merchant name from a different one dropped into the middle of a sentence. Currencies are set in Settings, 128 of them.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. Turn on iCloud sync and a copy lives in your own Apple account, encrypted, where only you can reach it. There is no Cash Book server holding your transaction history, so there is nothing of yours for us to lose. Lock the app with Face ID or Touch ID, export the lot as CSV or Excel, or erase everything from Settings.
