Mark Summerfield, owner of Qtrac Ltd., is an independent trainer, consultant, technical editor and writer specializing in Python, C++, Qt and PyQt. His books include Rapid GUI Programming with Python and Qt: The Definitive Guide to PyQt Programming (Addison-Wesley, 2008) and, co-written with Jasmin Blanchette, C++ GUI Programming with Qt 4 (Addison-Wesley, 2006). As Trolltech’s documentation manager, Mark founded and edited Trolltech’s technical journal, Qt Quarterly.

Mark Summerfield is a computer science graduate and qualified teacher with many years experience working in the software industry, primarily as a programmer and documenter. Mark owns Qtrac Ltd., http://www.qtrac.eu, where he works as a programmer and where he created and now maintains his commercial software --- PDF comparison tools DiffPDF (GUI) and comparepdfcmd (command line). He also created the open source UXF (Uniform eXchange Format), and wrote the first UXF libraries.

All Mark's books are aimed at programmers and others, such as students, scientists, and engineers, who already have some programming experience (how much depends on the individual book). Each solo book has its own page on the Qtrac website from which the source code can be downloaded and that lists the book's errata. All the books are designed to teach technologies that Mark loves and has found to be the best of their kind.

    This is a very good book for learning Python. Some very challenging and interesting examples are spread throughout the book and it is a book worth having on your study table when you are programming. Some of the most difficult topics are explained in a very simple language.Worth a buy.

    It's a very good book. Sometimes a bit confusing: you don't have to know programming to start reading, but it's strong recommended to fully understand author's aim.

    I have been reading this book from the library and it is a very good book. I just like the writing style of Mark Summerfield, which is in a narrative fashion.

    Unfortunately (maybe just me), this is a pirated book. This pirated book has a red triangle at the top-left of the cover. The text was originally something like "Can be sold only in some region". This one changes the text to "Best quality book". The printing is reasonably well but the paper is much thiner than the official book (have compared this with the one from library). I was a little bit surprised that I bought a pirated book from Amazon, but simply didn't want to hassle for the return.

    I understand this is not Amazon's fault and I still have a high trust for future online shoppinng on Amazon. Five star for the book and one star for being pirated.
