CC Switch Configuration Guide

Overview

CC Switch is a configuration management and local routing proxy tool for AI Coding tools. It supports unified management and switching between multiple AI model providers. Originally designed for the Claude Code ecosystem, it has gradually expanded to support mainstream AI Coding tools such as Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, OpenClaw, and others. By connecting Crun to CC Switch through Crun’s standard-compatible API endpoints, you can use Crun’s wide range of AI models in Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, OpenClaw, Hermes, and other environments without modifying your existing tool configuration. This enables unified access, flexible model switching, and efficient API usage.

This guide is suitable for the following scenarios:

Use a single API key to access multiple models across AI Agents
Manage multiple API keys (e.g. use Crun AI for daily development and an official OpenAI key for benchmarking) and switch between them quickly
Use GPT-5.4-mini-codex for speed in Project A and Codex-Max for complex refactoring in Project B

1. Prerequisites

CC Switch	Install CC Switch on your local computer. If you haven’t installed it yet, visit the CC Switch official website to download and install it.
Crun Account	Register at crun.ai
API Key	Create a new key in the Crun Console under「API Keys」, or use an existing key.
API Endpoint	OpenAI-compatible endpoint: `https://api.crun.ai/api/v1/chat/completions` OpenAI-compatible endpoint: `https://api.crun.ai/api/v1/responses` Anthropic-compatible endpoint: `https://api.crun.ai/api/v1/messages`
Model	Copy the full model ID from Available Models, such as `claude-opus-4-8` or `gpt-5.5`

2. Add a Model Provider

Setup Process

Open CC Switch and select the AI Coding tool where you want to add a provider (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, OpenClaw, or Hermes).
Click「Add New Provider」and select Custom Configuration.
Enter the Crun API information according to the table below, then save the configuration.
Enable the new Crun provider and test the connection.
Switch to the added Crun model in your AI Coding tool. Send a test message such as: “Hello, which AI model are you?”

The following sections demonstrate the setup using OpenAI and Hermes.

OpenAI Integration

Advanced Options - Upstream Format	For OpenAI-compatible APIs, select Chat Completions or Responses. For Anthropic-compatible APIs, select Anthropic Messages. The default is Chat Completions.

Verification: Restart ChatGPT. The account shown in the bottom-left corner should now reflect the switched configuration. Send a test message: “Which AI model are you?” to verify the connection.

Hermes Integration
