Hey everyone, I wanted to share a major heads-up regarding USPS shipping, especially for those of us who use self-service kiosks or scan sheets (PS Form 5630) to drop off prepaid packages. eBay accepts those scans as valid proof of shipment for your tracking metrics, BUT here is the trap: While eBay accepts it, the USPS Claims Office does NOT. Those scans are considered a "provisional scan" ONLY and if the post office loses the package before it is physically scanned by a postal employee or sorting station and you have to file an insurance claim, your claim will be DENIED!!!! Their official stance is that because a postal employee never physically scanned the item, they have no proof the package was actually in their possession when it was entered into the system. (In other words, they assume you are commiting fraud.) To Recap: eBay metrics: Accepts the kiosk scan. USPS Insurance/Claims: Denies the claim if the tracking history lacks a subsequent clerk or sorting facility scan. How do I know? It has happened to me both with the PS Form 5630 AND with the Kiosk scans. DENIED. They are telling us to use self-service options to clear the lobby and satisfy platform metrics, while quietly maintaining a loophole that lets them deny liability the second something goes wrong with a high-value item. If you're shipping anything valuable or plan on filing a claim for ANY package that gets lost. DO NOT rely solely on the kiosk receipt or a PS Form 5630 SCAN sheet protect you. THAT IS A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY! You have to ensure it gets that physical counter acceptance scan , regardless of how much pushback you get from the staff. Now, here's where it gets absurd. My post office, Daniel Doffyn 60618 in Chicago, is LIMITING counter scans to FIVE packages. I opened a complaint about this and they sent me a boilerplate response telling me to use a a PS Form 5630 SCAN sheet. Then they marked the complaint as "resolved." Now it gets even worse. Two days ago, I went in with the allotted FIVE packages, waited in line, and the clerk goes: "You don't have to wait in line with those, you can scan those at the Kiosk." So I said: "No, the Kiosk scan is only a provisional scan and isn't valid for insurance claims." Then she started berating me, saying: "That's not true!" "You're wrong!" "That's not true!" I explained how I actually was denied an insurance claim for that very reason, and she said: "NO. Then you were denied for some other reason." Then we got into a yelling match about it. Yes, this is what I have to deal with from R. Young at MY post office at Kedzie and Grace in Chicago. The upshot of the story is, DO NOT BACK DOWN. GET a TRUE Postal Employee COUNTER SCAN, no matter how much grief they give you about it!

...they are no longer a  reliable means to ship.  If they haven't screwed you yet, they will. These are only the last two. 8 of my last 10 did not arrive on time and most were DAYS late. ANY other business, this would not be tolerated (except for the Weather).

So I've been having difficulty to find time to do things this week... like listing, paperwork (logging all the sales for the shop), and processing new stuff. A few months ago I posted on a few threads about slow sales, and many suggested my inventory was well picked over and to "get new stuff". Well that's what I did. The shop let me run amuck in the store after I was shown all the areas I could search, and within 10 minutes I stumbled upon some bins of banknotes. Seems they had banknotes in bundles and partial bundles, and trouble finding customers to buy the notes because there were so many. I claimed them for my store, and it's gone completely nuts. The thing that's making it hard for me to do stuff is all the custom orders that have been cropping up. When I list one and it sells fast, and then list another one, buyers are figuring out I have many of some of these notes and requesting quantities and what not. Thing is, I have only been able to find time to deal with one customer's custom order per day. Seems like many messages are being exchanged (which I know lots of sellers here don't like), but the messages lead to a $150+ sale, so I'm good with that, but I can only focus on one customer at a time. These are all good problems to have, and I don't mind one bit. If you see my recent sales you'll notices it's almost all banknotes, these are all from the new stock I got at the shop a few weeks ago. Looks like I will have a busy weekend packing custom orders. C.

I have a one day handling time on all my orders. When I sell on item on a Friday or Saturday the order says to ship by Monday. I understand that is the next business day. But when you go to print the label on ebay just after you enter the weight and dimensions there is a box to select the "ship on". My question is does the selected "ship on" date influence your metrics is you don't actually ship on the date that is selected even though you ship within your handling time (Monday in this case) I wonder because orders that are processed late on Friday or Saturday will have the default date of the date you are processing the label. It seems that the default date is related to Pacific time. If you are processing an order at 4PM CDT on a Friday the default date will show you are shipping on that Friday even though the Post Office is closed. If you are processing an order on a Saturday the default "ship on" date is Saturday even though our Post Office is closed. I have sometimes forgotten to change that "ship on" date but am getting better.

I have 2 items removed because eBay considers them counterfeit. On one of the items there is nothing on my description or the item to be counterfeit, that is a fashion item with no designer's logos or name anywhere. I never named as designer item it's similar to a designer's but no logo anywhere. The second one is a designer's item in original box and dust bag with a tag from manufacture's and sold in major stores. I bought it from a multimillion-dollar business which sells fashion and High end.
