Beyond the Pixel: Building Products in the Age of AI What happens beyond the pixel? As AI continues to change how we design and build products, the role of a designer is expanding beyond interfaces and visual execution. Great products are shaped by the thinking that happens before the first frame is designed, understanding users, defining problems, making product decisions, designing systems, and collaborating across teams. Join Friends of Figma Lahore for a virtual community meetup with Senam Khan, Lead Product Manager at ML Arteka, Toronto , as we explore what it really takes to build products in the age of AI. We’ll go beyond UI and talk about: User research and understanding real problems Product thinking and making better decisions Systems design and designing for scale How AI is changing product development The evolving role of designers in product teams What it means to think beyond the pixel Whether you're a designer, product manager, developer, researcher, or simply curious about how modern products are built, this session will give you a broader perspective on the work behind the interface. Date: 14 September 2026 Time: 6:00 PM (Pakistan Time) Come with your questions, curiosity, and ideas. Let's explore what building great products looks like when the canvas is no longer limited to the screen. See you there!

September book pick: Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All written by David Kelley and Tom Kelley Grab your favorite drink and join us for a chill evening discussing Creative Confidence — community-led, not recorded, just us figuring it out together. About the book: In a nutshell: A powerful case that creativity isn’t a talent reserved for “creative types” — it’s a human capacity we all have, and this book shows us how to unlock it. Here's the full description if you want to dive deeper: Too often, companies and individuals assume that creativity and innovation are the domain of the “creative types.” But two of the leading experts in innovation, design, and creativity on the planet show us that each and every one of us is creative. In an incredibly entertaining and inspiring narrative that draws on countless stories from their work at IDEO and with many of the world’s top companies, David and Tom Kelley identify the principles and strategies that will allow us to tap into our creative potential in our work lives and in our personal lives, and allow us to innovate in terms of how we approach and solve problems. It is a book that will help each of us be more productive and successful in our lives and in our careers. https://www.creativeconfidence.com/ About the authors: David Kelley is the founder of IDEO, one of the world’s most influential design and innovation firms, and the creator of the Stanford d.school (Hasso Plattner Institute of Design), where he continues to teach. He has been a leading figure in human-centered design for decades, working with companies around the world to build a culture of innovation. Tom Kelley is a partner at IDEO and the author of the bestselling The Art of Innovation and The Ten Faces of Innovation . He has spent his career helping organisations build creative cultures and develop innovative products, services, and experiences. Together, David and Tom bring decades of hands-on experience in design, creativity, and innovation to this book. https://www.creativeconfidence.com/authors

Join Friends of Figma Service Design , in collaboration with Good Karma Labs and Singapore Global Netwok, for an AI Demo Night , an evening of live demos, creative experiments, good conversations, and a look at how AI is changing the way we design. Expect real prompts, Figma experiments, AI tools, prototypes, plugins, unexpected workflows, and ideas you can take back to your own work. And the stage is not just for our speakers. We’ll also open things up to the community, so if you’ve built something interesting, discovered a clever workflow, or have an AI experiment you’ve been wanting to share, you’ll have the chance to demo it too. It doesn’t need to be polished. Curiosity is enough. AI is giving us new ways to think, make, prototype, and explore. Let’s see what everyone’s been building.

Twenty slides. Twenty seconds each. The deck moves whether you're ready or not. That's Pecha Kucha, and it's landing at FoF Sydney for the first time on 24 September at Atlassian. And no, before you ask, this is not another AI talk. Just three leaders, one very unforgiving clock, and the oldest skill in the room: telling a story well. Sarah Stokes (Co-Founder and Coach, Humanify) brings The Creativity Muscle . The neuroscience of creativity, and why it behaves less like a talent and more like a muscle. Use it or lose it, and what that actually looks like for teams trying to stay sharp while everything else moves fast. Michel Ferreira (Designer Advocate, Figma) presents 5 Countries. 30 Years. 20 Slides. Thirty years of design across five countries, told as one story. Shifting technology, shifting cultures, shifting ideas of what design even is, and what comes next for the profession. Shruti Bansal (Senior CX & Product Designer, Zurich Insurance) unpacks The Art of Observation: What Are We Missing When We Think We're Looking? Art and theatre as the lens, the pause before someone answers and the workaround nobody mentions in the debrief as the subject. Aniruddha Kadam (UX & Web Design Manager, UNSW) shares Rearranging the Layout of My Design Life . Mumbai to San Francisco to Sydney, a career that never went in a straight line, and what it actually takes to keep adapting, rebuilding and growing every time the map changes. You'll leave with two things. A handful of ideas worth sitting with, and a masterclass in saying more with less, watched live, three times in a row, with nowhere to hide behind a slide. Bring your own take on the night's stories and find the people worth swapping them with. Product, design, engineering and AI leaders from across Sydney will be in that room, all with an opinion. Agenda 5:00PM: Doors open 5:00PM - 6:00PM: Arrival, registration, food & drinks 6:00PM - 7:30PM: Talks & Q&A 7:30PM - 9:00PM: Networking 9:00PM: Event ends ⚠️ Registration Notice We'll be placing you on a waitlist before approving registrations based on capacity. Please arrive on time. After 6pm, there may be no one at door to let you in. Be ready to present your ID and ticket at the entrance, as attendee identities will be verified against their tickets. If you can’t attend, please cancel your spot as soon as possible. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the event will not be valid.
