This is a drop-in replacement PCB for original Super Nintendo/Super Famicom controllers that uses all through-hole components in a more beginner-friendly design. This design sacrifices the SOCD filter circuitry and lighted buttons of my other design in favor of using components that are easier to solder by hand.

IMPORTANT ASSEMBLY NOTE: It is very important to trim the resistor array legs as flush as possible on this design. The placement of these arrays overlaps some PCB supports on the inside of the front face of the controller housing, and not trimming these legs as flat as possible will result in difficulty closing the controller housing.

This PCB is for an electric guitar overdrive pedal. The circuit has stacked JFET gain stages with three knob controls (gain, tone and volume and two optional toggles for additional gain and clipping. The circuit is based on a topology shown by Brian Wampler in his Guitar Effect Pedal Course.

PCB for building a common-mode choke for amateur radio use. The standard choke uses 10 bifilar turns of 16 AWG copper wire wound around a 15mm FT114-43 toroid. This board will also accommodate a FT140 or FT240 toroid as well.

Each end may be terminated with a Molex BNC connector (P/N 0731000105), an RG-316 pigtail, or a combination of the two.

Intended as a compact, build-it-yourself PCB for inline HF common-mode choke.

“FIVE FISH TRIBUTE” OPAMP TEST JIG

A friend of mine needed a test jig for discrete op amp kits he is building. My go-to recommendation for this was always the Five Fish Audio board — super straightforward, good options, etc. but since Five Fish has sadly passed, that project is no longer available.

Five Fish published schematics for many of their projects, including the opamp test jig, so I laid out a “new” one as a tribute. This project is completely and totally open source, as FF Audio had released the schematics presumably under that context, and is heavily marked as FOR NON COMMERCIAL DIY PURPOSES ONLY!

I’ve added a few changes to the FF board, including I/O jacks, a whole section for testing dual DIP-8 opamps one side at a time, various parallel footprints for different types of switches, etc. Likewise, I added multiple footprints for parallel resistors, since some of the gain setting resistors are oddball values and maybe you’d prefer to use “close enough” common values. Goal for this was to be able to build it out with parts you already have in your parts drawer.
