I typically do not submit to ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML. I prefer smaller, cozier conferences as ALIFE. This year we have submitted a paper to ICLR 2027 (seemed like a good fit). Turns out there are > 60 000 submissions this time... more that the sum of submissions 2013-2026...

Does consciousness require biology? @anilkseth argues for a yes However, the main arguments are not particularly conclusive: - Simulating a process needn’t reproduce its properties - Brain function may be inseparable from its physical material.
