Still trying to make it work
Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2025Took some time to get it to work, with raspberry pi and adafruit bonnet, but worked eventually with their instructions.

Great for the price
Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2025This worked great for me. They're nice and bright, but I wish the pixels were one mm larger. It's nice that they include hardware as well. There was one setting in the Pi that I had to change to make the Waveshare matrix work, whereas I didn't have to do that with the Adafruit matrix. So, it's not a straight drop-in replacement if you're looking to replace the Adafruit models.

Different versions
Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2025The pinning on the back of the display was not the same that is on the websites information. Had to reach out to their customer support and they were not helpful at all. Once I figured out the pinning, I was able to get it to work succesfully.

Lost a color after a month of use
Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2025Everything was fine in the beginning but after a month of being on, I lost one of the color channels. It makes the device a bit useless and isn't any good. Probably just a faulty unit but it just happened to fail after the return policy which is upsetting.

40% DOA
Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2025Good when working but quality control is lacking. About 40% are dead on arrival. Buy twice as many as you need and plan on returning the rest. All the good ones seem to be from one batch and the other batch is not functional. At best, some pixels randomly light, other times its off completely. Verified its plugged into a working port and tried all scan options - even though it does say its 1/16 scan.

May not work with commonly available software libraries
Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2025For the other hobbyists out there: the LED matrix I received contains RUL2024 microchips, which as far as I can tell are controlled via PWM instead of the more common shift register-based chips, and are thus unsupported by most open source LED matrix software libraries, including the example projects provided in Waveshare’s product documentation. Purchase at your own risk

Looks like a lot of fun, does not work with an Arduino UNO
Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2024Vine Customer Review of Free ProductWhile I have not fully tested this item yet, it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun to play around with. What you should know in advance is that this will not work with an Arduino UNO, which happens to be the only board I have right now to play with. I will have to order at least an Arduino Mega, or more likely, a raspberry pi to get this to work. The HUB75 connector seems fairly easy to wire up. I would recommend first downloading and installing the library files which I found on github by searching for waveshare RGB matrix and the keyword github. Once installed, there are several demo programs to get you started. Now, I just have to wait for my new board to show up.

Dr Warren Creemers5 out of 5 starsI enjoyed working with it as my second LED matrix project.
Reviewed in Australia on July 10, 2025Used it to make a video game to help with my kids homework; worked well. I skipped the sample project stuff and hooked it up to a pi instead. Display needs a FM612 handshake or it plays up; that took me a few hours to figure out (really wish that was made clearer). Otherwise; its a nice daylight visible display that has clocked quite a few hours now with no hiccups.
Seems tolerant of lower refresh rates than I would have thought before flicker sets in; which is a nice bonus..
