The Royal Navy’s Excalibur uncrewed submarine launched a U.S. Mk 48 heavyweight torpedo off Scotland on Sept. 13 under AUKUS Pillar 2. The nearly 40-foot, 19-ton UUV carried the torpedo externally during the proof-of-concept test.

The U.S., Denmark and Greenland signed a security agreement on Sept. 22 allowing the U.S. to establish defense areas at Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig and expand activities at Pituffik Space Base. The deal also restricts Russian and Chinese military activity in Greenland.

ShinyHunters claims it breached the FBI and stole data on about 5,000 employees, including names, addresses, phone numbers and Social Security numbers. The group says it exploited an Oracle PeopleSoft zero-day to access FBI systems. The FBI is investigating.

China has expelled Gen. Zhang Youxia and Gen. Liu Zhenli from the Communist Party and military over alleged corruption and disciplinary violations. Both were accused of taking money to influence military promotions and were removed from the Central Military Commission in August.
