Busy day ahead, all self-inflicted:

• Replace Fedora with CachyOS on the Framework using the Runbook I made yesterday
• Update Emacs to 31 everywhere (it's default on Cachy, but macOS and Fedora need work
• Process/Scan a roll of 35mm (test on both SilverFast/macOS and Vuescan/Linux)

UPDATE: That took WAY longer than expected. The Framework's Wifi would drop every few minutes. Had to send Claude Code in to help. Even that took hours. I think we got it, finally. The trick was to pin the Wifi connection to a specific interface/channel and force it to use v5 first and ignore v6. Something to do with the Orbi mesh, I dunno, it works now.

Hey. It's been a spell since I've posted here. I'm currently infatuated with Pure Blog running at baty.blog, but I wanted to test my Emacs->11ty->VPS deployment on the newly-restored 2015 Thinkpad. If you're reading this, it worked.

I had a todo on my list for canceling my MagicPages subscription, so I went to do that. Seeing the Ghost version of this site running my custom theme gave me second thoughts. Remember how easy posting was with Ghost? Remember the comments, newsletters, and ActivityPub features? I caught myself before becoming too enamored with the idea, and canceled. If you use Ghost, MagicPages is a great service for hosting.

My writing isn't very good. I know that. It's probably because I don't worry much about how good it is. I just write, you know? One thing, though, is that I'm kind of proud that not a single word is generated using an LLM. What would be the point of doing that?

I've been chatty on Mastodon the past few days. What gives? It's probably so I don't have to start any of the important projects on my plate.

I love Emacs. Even when I hate it. Just saying.

A week ago I started a new habit: Every day I give away, sell, recycle, or trash at least one thing. It doesn't matter how big, how small, or how many, as long as it's /something/.

Focusing on the "every day" part rather than the "how much" part has made all the difference. It's been great.

I'm about a third through "Devoted", by Dean Koontz and I've been enjoying it. I finally decided to add it to my Hardcover list. When I did, I saw that I'd already read the book in 2020 and gave it 3 stars. It's not uncommon for people to re-read books, but I honestly have no recollection of any of "Devoted". None of it sounds remotely familiar. That's weird, right?

I'm definitely going to try littleFedi | A small ActivityPub server written in Go, the minute it ships.

I feel like relaxing on the couch all day with my laptop, Linux, and some music in the background. Maybe I'll take a break from this keyboard and go write on one of the typewriters for a while. That's been fun, too. Typing directly onto paper is cool, and something everyone should try, imo.

Speaking of Linux, on my desktop I'm running Fedora w/KDE, but here on the laptop it's Fedora w/Dank Linux and Niri. I'm getting comfortable with it and it's pretty nice.
