The daily cascading word game
What is Cascadle
Cascadle is a free daily word game where you solve a chain of five words that grow from three letters to seven. Each word you crack is re-coloured against the next answer, so every solve hands you a head start on the word below it.
There is no guess limit and no lose state. The only score is how few tiles you spend — a flawless run costs 25.
Why play
Free, no account, no download. One cascade a day for everyone at 00:00 UTC, so you and your friends are always solving the same puzzle. A session takes three to six minutes.
Because guesses are unlimited, a bad opening never ends your run. The pressure comes from wanting a tidy score, not from a countdown of lives.
How to play
- Guess the three-letter word. Green means right letter, right spot. Yellow means right letter, wrong spot. Grey means the letter is not in the word.
- Solve it and the board cascades — every row you have already played is recoloured against the four-letter answer.
- Read the inherited colours before you type. You are placing letters you already know about, not hunting for them from scratch.
- Climb through five, six and seven letters. Twenty-five tiles is a perfect cascade.
Consecutive answers always share almost all of their letters: the next word keeps at least all but one of them and adds the rest. That is why a solved word is never finished — it is the opening clue for the word beneath it.
Game modes
Today and yesterday
A new cascade appears at 00:00 UTC — the countdown at the top of the board matches everyone else's, wherever they are. Yesterday's chain stays hidden until the archive opens, so nobody gets spoiled by a friend in another time zone.
Frequently asked questions
Is Cascadle free?
Yes. No account, no download, no ads.
When does the next cascade appear?
At 00:00 UTC every day. The same chain goes out worldwide, so the countdown on the board is the same one everybody sees.
How many guesses do I get?
As many as you like. Your score is the total number of tiles you used, not the number of guesses — a perfect run costs 25 tiles.
What counts as a valid word?
Any word in our dictionary of about 52,000 common English words, US spelling. Answers are drawn from a much smaller pool of everyday words, so you will never have to guess something obscure.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Cascadle is built mobile-first and works in any modern browser.
Do I lose my streak if I miss a day?
Yes — the streak counts consecutive days you finished the daily cascade. Missing a day resets it to zero.
