End of Year Survey

2012 had a lot of extremes. Fannishly it was simply wonderful, more than I could ever hope for, and I'm still sort of blinking owlishly at my computer most of the time in amazement. In my other life, things were a little more up and down. The year started off awesome and then got crappy and then got really crappy and there was way too much cancer involved (not me, but several of people I know and love). Online, I would be happy to just live in this little bubble of time forever, because I love every minute of it, but offline I'm officially ready to move on to 2013 now and hope things get a little better.

(This isn't the fannish survey I've seen posted around, because the idea of deciding which story is my favorite and which one is under-appreciated makes me feel like I'm shriveling up inside GAH. )

Avengers again and again and...

I went to see Avengers again tonight (number, um, 11) and while there was no new extra scene as had been speculated (hoped), it was really nice to see them all again, because I missed their stupid faces.

What was also interesting was how seeing the deleted scenes online changed how I saw the movie this time--little things that now have an extra layer. Steve and the waitress would be an example, which I am linking to on my Tumblr because it is late and I am tired and I have to get up at 4:30am to go back to the horse show tomorrow, but...AVENGERS. \o/

Avengers back in theaters.

Apparently the Avengers movie is going to be back in theaters in the US for Labor Day weekend.

They're specifically reminding people to stay through the credits, which has us all wondering if there's going to be ANOTHER extra scene. (Iron Man 3?)

ETA: OH GOD IT'S SHOWING AT MY THEATER.

I have the busiest weekend imaginable the next four days (horse show! Doctor Who! county fair!) BUT I WILL MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

Like any uncharted territory

Yesterday lostinthought drove up here and then we carried on to fullygoldy's house and had a lovely brunch with sasha_feather, dragonfly, canon_is_relative, jesse_the_k, dira, and trinity_clare. Also two kitties and two dogs. \o/

The food was super (I had, among other things, a Bloody Mary and a giant hunk of blue cheese with honey and nuts), and I brought cookies that everyone seemed to like, and I always like an excuse to make cookies.

We watched some Teen Wolf, which according to our fannish contracts is required at this point in time, and then a bunch of vids, and in between talked a little bit. ("What fandom are you in?" is basically the geek version of "What do you do for a living?" amiright?)

At one point, after checking my phone, this happened:

Me: "So you guys, I've got one friend whose father is being kept in the hospital a little longer due to surgery complications..."

Group: *sympathetic murmurs*

Me: "...and another whose mother was just rushed into emergency surgery an hour ago..."

Group: *more sympathetic murmurs*

Me: "...but worst of all another friend's husband is making her watch X-Men 3."

Group: *immediate screams of utter horror*

It is Friday and I am freshly home from seeing The Bourne Legacy, so right now the entire world is made of cotton candy, and socks fresh from the dryer.

artemis2050 and I managed to coordinate it so we saw the movie at almost exactly the same time, which is pretty impressive when you realize we live not only in different cities but also different time zones.

Thoughts in no particular order, which I will realize later contain glaring omissions:
