Grid Template

2 min read

Grid Template is a feature of the Dynamic Engine plugin that lets you create custom grid layouts to display your content in a structured, visually organized format.

Create a Grid Template #

  • Go to Dynamic Engine from your WordPress dashboard, then click Listings.
  • Click ‘Add New’ to create your first template
Go to Listings of Dynamic Engine and click Add New

As you can see, a panel opens on the right. Check what it says –

  • Template Name: A label to identify this template within your saved templates list.
  • Data source: Defines where the content comes from.
  • Post type: Specifies which post type (e.g., Post, product, Form, etc.) this template will pull data from.
  • Template type: Determines the layout style, like single card, a full grid, or an override for single/archive pages

Here, I’ve created a template named “Property,” with the Data source set to Posts and Post type set to Post. For Template type, I selected Card (listing item), since this template will define the layout for a single listing card.
Finally, clicked Create Template to proceed.

Now, you’ll see the Quick Setup options. It lets you edit the Title, Data source, and Post type. Also, after all the customization, you can click on the “Update Template” button to save.

You can control the visibility of your listing card.

You’ll see Quick-Start Presets, like Blog Card, Product Card, Property Card, and more.
We’ve picked Blog Card. There are various controls to customize it based on your preferences.

Let’s select the Title. On the right, you see the Default tab.
From here, set the Source, pick the Object Field, like Title. Use a custom token for a specific meta key. Choose the HTML Tag, Format, and more if you need to customize.

Once done, click ‘Update Template’ to save.
If it still shows ‘unsaved’, your changes aren’t saved yet.
