Haveno can be installed on Linux, macOS, and Windows by using a third party installer and network. We do not endorse any networks at this time.

There is still a lot to do, but we feel the platform is now stable enough to tag version 0.0.1 and allow the public to test the trade protocol.

]]>Note that at the moment we have received 2 of the 5 payouts from the CCS, for a total of 202 XMR. The rest of the funds are custodied by the Monero Core Team, as for every other CCS.
The funds we raised for development are in XMR, so they are sensitive to market movements. Sadly, the value of Monero has been decreasing sharply during the last several weeks, resulting in our funds having less and less value in dollars.
The market value of XMR fell so low that we are forced to suspend the development of the user interface until Monero’s value will rise enough for us to be able to cover the entire development. This is not a decision we take lightly, but letting work proceed with the strong risk of depleting the funds before the UI is completed is not an option. Tomorrow we will pay the fourth invoice for the past two weeks of work (which will be pushed to the repository soon), then development will pause.
For the time being we will focus on the backend and on adapting the legacy user interface, so in the case the market won’t recover in time to allow us to build the frontend for the initial launch, we will be able to use Bisq’s old interface. This is not an optimal situation, but we have to make compromises in order to avoid stalling. Design and API work is still ongoing, to allow us to be able to quickly resume working on the user interface.
Nonetheless, work proceeds and, now more than before, we need the support of our community: If you are a developer proficient in Java or Typescript, your help would be greatly appreciated, even for minor tasks. Reach out on Matrix or Irc/Libera: #haveno-development; if you have the possibility, consider donating any amount to our general fund, which is also heavily impacted by the market. This is the fund we use for bounties and all other expenses, so donations would be a huge help.

]]>Development proceeds at full speed and updates to the Haveno core repository are being constantly pushed. At the moment the focus is providing the frontend team with everything they need for building the UI.
There is a lot to do and there are multiple issues open and ready to be worked on. If you are a Java developer, we need your help. Take a look at the open issues. Those labelled Pn (P1, P2, P3, P4. Where P1 is the top priority and P4 the lowest) are ready to be resolved. Contact us or write directly on the issue if you need more information.
The work on the user interface, funded by the community has started and it’s ongoing at full steam! The base is being built and updates are being regularly pushed.
progresses can be tracked on the dedicated repository on GitHub: github.com/haveno-dex/haveno-ui and on the project board. The frontend team also shares a summary of the updates in our Matrix room dedicated to Haveno development (#haveno-development, relayed on IRC/Libera).
We created the haveno-ts repository, a TypeScript library for programmatically interacting with Haveno. It will be used to make the user interface interact with the Haveno core software, but can also be used by external projects to integrate Haveno into their infrastructure and also power users that prefer to create their own tools for interacting with the Haveno network.
The community has now the possibility to propose assets to list on Haveno, by using the dedicated repository. The process is very simple (the full instructions are in the repo):
Go to the issue tracker and use the search field to make sure there isn’t already an open issue about your asset.
Choose the correct template (cryptocurrency or fiat) and make sure to complete all fields.
Submit the proposal.
The status of each proposal is tracked using a GitHub project.
We created a document on the haveno-meta repository that will be updated every time the money raised through the CCS are used or received. Make sure to watch the repository if you want to receive updates.
]]>The Haveno Core Team does not request or accept listing fees. We reject these claims entirely.
Zcash is already supported by Bisq, so supporting it on Haveno is quick and trivial. Zcash does provide strong privacy when used with fully shielded transactions, and as a privacy focused platform, we want to incentivize the use of privacy technologies, the correct way. That’s why we decided to list Zcash, but shielded (private) addresses only (See the open issue). We also see value in giving the possibility to Zcash users to trade with Monero users privately and in a decentralized way.
With that said, we believe Monero is the best tool to facilitate private trade, which is why it’s the base pair of every traded asset.
We decided to not include Zcash in the list of the currencies that will be supported at launch. We don’t consider it a priority and we think we have already consumed enough resources on this issue. As FOSS developers, we are also concerned by Zooko’s recent statements about the licensing of their technology.

]]>As soon as the CCS got funded we got things in motion. We already had a meeting with the UI team to kickstart things and we had another meeting between designer, UI team and HCT yesterday. We also already created the repository that will host the user interface: github.com/haveno-dex/haveno-ui.
We received the first milestone of our CCS (151 XMR). The way we use these funds will be tracked on a dedicated file on the haveno-meta repository: monero-ccs.md. We suggest to ‘watch’ the repository, as it will make easier to keep track of changes to the file.

]]>We finalized our trade protocol (PR: #107) and we are in the process of implementing it in the code. To make this possible, we added some functionalities to monero-wallet-rpc (freeze and thaw outputs).
Feedback is very welcome and encouraged. Instructions about how to compile Haveno are in the repository.
Monero’s multisig protocol hasn’t received much attention since its implementation (mostly for lack of projects using it), so it’s quite clunky and has multiple issues that need to be resolved before being fully reliable.
We are currently working with Monero developers and researchers to make sure multisig is ready and rock solid for when Haveno will be live. These improvements will be beneficial not only for Haveno, but also for any other project planning to use multisignatures.

In July we found and disclosed a serious vulnerability in Bisq, the project we forked to create Haveno. The vulnerability allowed malicious actors to harvest sensitive data from users (bank accounts, names and potentially home addresses) at no cost.
The problem was fixed in Bisq release 1.7.0, thanks to the help and suggestions of our team.
