How your city grows

Four simple rules turn showing up into architecture.

No points. No pestering. Just a city that only you could have built — one kept day at a time.

01

Habit = Tower

Every habit you track breaks ground as its own building, with a name, a color, and an emoji crest over the door.

02

Kept day = Light

Check in, and a window lights up tonight. Miss a day and it simply stays dark — no guilt, no broken anything.

03

Weekly goal = Story

Make the week's goal, and a new story lands on top with a little ceremony. Every story is a week you kept your word.

04

Streaks = Glow

Keep the streak alive, and the whole skyline burns brighter — you can see a good month from across the room.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

When does Storey App launch?

Not yet — Storey App is in its final stretch of development and is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone. Join the waitlist with your email and you’ll get a single message the day it goes live, with nothing else in between.

Is Storey App free?

Yes — Storey App is free to start. Your first city block holds 5 towers, with full tracking, streaks, reminders, and the living skyline included. Storey Pro, an optional monthly subscription, unlocks unlimited towers, premium finishes, and the Building Studio.

How does a tower grow?

Each habit sets a weekly goal — say, exercise 4 days a week. Every day you check in, a window lights up. Make the week's goal and that tower tops out a brand-new story. Your history becomes architecture you can see.

What happens if I miss a week?

Nothing is torn down — nothing you build is ever deleted. A missed week just leaves windows dark, and when you return, the lights come back on. Storey App is built around comebacks, not guilt.

Does Storey App sync across devices?

Yes. Sign in with Apple, Google, or email and your city is saved and synced in real time. Storey App is offline-first: check in anywhere, and everything reconciles when you're back online.

Which devices does Storey App run on?

Storey App is built natively for iPhone (iOS 17 or later) and includes a home-screen widget so your skyline is always one glance away.

Is Storey App available on Android?

Not yet — Storey App is iPhone-only today, so the skyline, widget, and animations can feel truly native. If you'd like Storey App on another platform, tell us at support@trystorey.com — requests like that shape what we build next.

What happens if I cancel Storey Pro?

Nothing you build is ever deleted. Step down from Pro anytime and every tower, story, and light stays yours — your city keeps standing, and the free block of 5 towers simply applies to new construction.

Is my habit data private?

Yes. There's no social feed and no public profile — your city is yours alone. Sign in with Apple, Google, or email; your habits sync privately to your account, and your data is never sold.

What is a visual habit tracker?

A visual habit tracker turns your check-ins into something you can watch grow, instead of checkboxes and charts. In Storey App, that something is a city: each habit is a tower, each kept day lights a window, and each completed week adds a new story to the skyline.

How long does it take to build a habit?

About 66 days on average, according to a University College London study — with a real-world range of 18 to 254 days depending on the person and the habit. The practical takeaway: plan in weeks, not days, and expect a habit to start feeling automatic in month two or three.

Does missing a day ruin a habit?

No. The same UCL research found that missing a single day made no measurable difference to habit formation — what matters is coming back. That’s why Storey App never tears anything down: a missed day is a dark window, not a demolished building.

How many habits should you track at once?

Start with one to three. New habits compete for the same attention and willpower, so stacking too many at once lowers the odds that any of them stick. Add the next tower once the first ones light up without much effort — your first Storey App block holds five for exactly that reason.

Do habit trackers actually work?

Yes — when you actually check in. Monitoring your own progress is one of the best-evidenced behavior-change techniques: people who record their progress are consistently more likely to reach their goals. A tracker works best when checking in takes seconds and the result is satisfying to look at — which is the whole idea behind the skyline. Want the long versions, with starter plans?
