    I agree with much of what @unclebobmartin has to say about engineering with agents -- they need management and a gauntlet of validation. But to avoid churn we need both validation AND models that encode the properties of interest.

    Question: How do we engineer with commodity intelligence ("coding agents")? (and how do we get our humans off of code review duty?) Answer: Models + alignment = Governed Engineering Environments, which compound.

    My student Berk Çakar co-led a paper at @asiaccs2025 that provides a Systematization of Knowledge (SOK) on Regex Denial of Service. This paper includes a literature review as well as an "engineering review" of regex engine changes. Read more:
