Last month, Audrey Leishman shared her story with Fox News TV. What seemed like the flu quickly turned into a life-threatening battle with sepsis. Audrey’s journey from survivor to advocate is the reason the Begin Again Foundation exists today. For more than a decade, Audrey & her incredible team have worked tirelessly to raise awareness, support survivors and grieving families, and help others recognize the signs of sepsis before it’s too late. Take a moment to read her story & remember to trust your instincts, know the symptoms, and ask the question that could save a life: Could it be sepsis? https://lnkd.in/eDXCJ8f3

Big news from Begin Again Foundation! 📚🩷 We’re excited to share that Katie Koala’s Biggest Fight: A Little Koala’s Fight Against a Big Illness is now available for preorder! Written by Begin Again co-founder and sepsis survivor Audrey Leishman, this children’s book was created to help families recognize when something isn’t right, trust their instincts, and understand the importance of seeking medical care early. What began as Audrey’s personal journey after nearly losing her life to sepsis has become a mission to educate, support, and advocate for families facing serious illness. Through Katie’s story, we hope to start important conversations and empower children and parents with knowledge that could save lives. Every preorder helps further Begin Again’s mission while bringing critical awareness about sepsis to families everywhere. 🐨Preorder your copy today: https://a.co/d/0dgJSRmH #BeginAgainFoundation #KatieKoalasBiggestFight #SepsisAwareness #ChildrensBooks #FamilyHealth

Sometimes the most meaningful impact comes from addressing the small, overlooked details. At Begin Again Foundation, we’re committed to filling those gaps- especially when they affect dignity and confidence for young girls. Through our Toxic Shock Prevention Program, we provide safe menstrual products to shelters and schools. During conversations with educators, we recognized a simple but important need: many school bathrooms weren’t designed with younger students experiencing their first periods in mind. In partnership with the CHESAPEAKE PUBLIC SCHOOLS EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION and Chesapeake Public Schools, we’ve now provided over 70 personal disposal receptacles in elementary and middle school bathrooms across the district. It’s a small change but one that creates privacy, dignity, and confidence for the girls who need it most.

This flu season, we’re focused on helping families, schools, and caregivers recognize the signs of sepsis and act early. Thank you to our co-founder, Audrey Leishman, for continuing to use her voice to raise awareness and encourage patient advocacy.
As flu season ramps up, I’ve been thinking a lot about how easily serious illness can be missed. Infections like the flu don’t always follow a predictable path. When symptoms start getting worse instead of better, that’s often the moment when paying closer attention really matters. As a sepsis survivor, this is something I care deeply about. I’ll share more soon, but for now, I hope people take a few minutes to learn the warning signs and trust their instincts if something doesn’t feel right. Awareness truly saves lives.

Turning personal adversity into community impact. Ten years ago, after Audrey Leishman’s near-fatal fight with sepsis, she and her husband, LIV Golf professional Marc Leishman, turned their pain into purpose. The Begin Again Foundation was born from that experience and has since helped thousands of families through emergency financial aid, sepsis education, and survivor support. A few years later, the Golf Channel captured Audrey’s story, a powerful glimpse into her recovery, resilience, and the mission that continues to inspire hope today. As we mark a decade of impact, we’re reminded that when you survive the unimaginable, you help others survive too. 🎥 Watch the feature below to see how compassion became a calling. https://lnkd.in/g7AxjAgw #BeginAgainFoundation #LeishmanFamily #SepsisAwareness #GivingBack #Leadership #Impact #LIVGolf
