Al Rajhi Medicine has been named a finalist at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2026. Designed as a contemporary healthcare destination in Riyadh, Al Rajhi Medicine reimagines an existing building through adaptive reuse, flowing forms and welcoming public spaces, with patient comfort at the heart of the design. Sculpted to create a distinctive architectural identity, the project rethinks conventional healthcare environments by placing human experience, wellbeing and spatial quality at the heart of every journey. Proposed as a prototype for a future network of healthcare facilities across Saudi Arabia, the project demonstrates how architecture can create healthier, more welcoming and memorable places for patients, visitors and staff. Sir Ian's vision, drive and determination built an extraordinary company with a strong sense of purpose and a deep belief in its people – qualities that have endured across generations. For all of us at Wood, there is a profound sense of pride in the company Sir Ian created and the legacy he leaves behind. We will carry that legacy with us, honouring the values and spirit on which Sir Ian founded the company. Our thoughts are with Sir Ian's family and all those who knew him.
