Effects Database

Since 2003 I'm working on Effects Database, a kind of online encyclopedia of guitar effects. At the moment, the site already has more than 26000 different models from about 4000 brands (and many more are waiting in a queue).

The site's costs are rather high since I use several hosting accounts (including a dedicated server) to host the site, the images and the forum, but also for several tools and services that help me do all this on my own (research, social media tools,...), documentation (old catalogs/manuals/ads/...),... and indirect costs (computer gear, photo booth and outsourcing a few related tasks to spend more time on the site,...).

For years I relied on eBay ads to cover most of the costs, but each change in that program resulted in lower results. In May 2017 they lowered their commissions for "stringed instruments" to compete with Reverb. Only that category, just my luck... And later that year my biggest advertiser (Pro Guitar Shop / Tone Report) closed its doors... 

I hope to get some support here to continue this project without worrying about the costs. If it works really well I can even spend more than just "spare" time on it or get some help so I can focus on adding more data and creating new features (I have working beta versions of some unique features!) and a mobile-friendly design (in the works for a few years, designers... 🙄😅).

I'll think about rewards for more tiers, if you have an idea or if there's something you'd like to see there, let me know! I'll work on some unique feeds and once the new site is ready I can give patrons some extra data/features. Or extra chances in giveaways, patron-only giveaways (1 entry per $?),...
