This is because of a « bug » from Microsoft Defender in one update of Windows 11, who magically made VLC plugins cache quarantined by Windows. Reinstalling VLC or regeneration of the plugin cache will fix this. Calling open source software embarrassing when it is a Windows

Finally switched *away* from VLC *to* Microsoft Media Player, because VLC now takes 33 seconds to start playing an mp3 after clicking on it. A large sector of open source software is in a truly embarrassing place now...

And we are now 2 years later, and guess what? The @Microsoft issue is still not solved… Seeing the mess around Veracrypt, @WireGuardVPN and others lately, we feel their pain…

If you do wonder why we don't update VLC on the Windows Store or why VLC/iOS can't connect properly to OneDrive shares, it's because Microsoft Kafkaïesque bureaucracy refuses to help us. We're only trying to contact someone since 2years... Any day now...
