Traditional cheesemaking often uses animal rennet extracted from animal stomach linings to coagulate milk. In 2016, Tillamook replaced this with a fermentation-produced, plant based rennet. THATS IT that’s what made it halal- using plant based curdling agents instead of animal gut juice. Are people really mad about this?
