Trulioo joins Google’s Agent Payments Protocol (AP2) Trulioo announced it has joined Google’s AP2 initiative to help enable secure, trusted agent-led payments across platforms. AP2 provides an open, standardized framework that connects financial institutions, FinTechs and merchants so AI agents can initiate and complete transactions with transparency and authorization. As part of AP2, Trulioo will bring its identity verification expertise to show how the Digital Agent Passport can add a verifiable trust layer. Combined with its Know Your Agent framework, it will ensure every digital agent is authenticated, authorized and accountable before transacting. “The future of commerce belongs to agents that can think, act and transact independently, but only if they can be trusted,” said Trulioo CEO, Vicky Bindra. With AP2, the company aims to help build that trust backbone for autonomous payments. Source/More info: https://lnkd.in/eEkNTpjJ This and more updates in the newsletter. Mastercard launches Agent Pay across Latin America and the Caribbean starting in 2026 At the Mastercard Innovation Forum, the company announced that issuers will be enabled by February next year, and partners like Bemobi, Checkout.com, Banco Davivienda, Evertec, Getnet, Inti, MagaluPay and Yuno will be among the first to scale AI-powered payments through Agent Pay. The program introduces secure, transparent and scalable AI-driven transactions across the ecosystem. Agent Pay uses Agentic Tokens to let AI agents transact safely on behalf of users, backed by verification, traceability and fraud prevention. With nearly all issuers in the region already enabled with tokenization, adoption is expected to be fast. The rollout will use Mastercard’s Agent Pay Acceptance Framework, requiring agent registration and verification to support secure agentic commerce with minimal effort for merchants. Visa plans to launch operations in Syria Visa said it will begin operating in Syria after reaching an agreement with the central bank on a roadmap to develop a digital payments ecosystem. The initial focus will be working with licensed financial institutions to build a secure payments foundation, including issuing cards and enabling digital wallets aligned with global standards. The IMF visited Damascus in November and said it would provide technical assistance on financial regulation, payment system rehabilitation and strengthening the central bank’s capacity to manage monetary policy and banking supervision. Syrian banks had been isolated from global financial systems during the civil war, following sanctions imposed in 2011. After Assad’s ouster last year, the interim government has been restoring international ties. Source/More info: https://lnkd.in/enp7-Ah3 This and more updates in the newsletter. Circle and OpenMind partner to build USDC standards for autonomous AI payments Circle and OpenMind are working on a USDC-based machine-to-machine payment standard to support autonomous AI agents making high-frequency, low-cost transactions without human intervention. The goal is to create a micropayment protocol that enables AI systems to access data, use compute resources and run API calls on their own. The effort connects Circle Gateway’s chain-abstracted USDC with the x402 open payment protocol. To address the limits of traditional blockchain fees, the system will use off-chain batching to make thousands of micropayments per second practical. Circle plans to expand Gateway to support x402-based micropayments across EVM and non-EVM chains, using a deferred-settlement design that preserves instant finality. Regulatory tensions delay rules for 𝘗𝘪𝘹 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘰 and leave Brazilians at risk A standoff between the Central Bank and major banks is delaying the long-awaited rules for Pix Instalments (Pix Parcelado), a credit line that lets consumers split payments with interest. Banks already offer the product, but the Central Bank was expected to publish guidelines in October to improve transparency, a step that never came. Consumer protection groups warn that the lack of standardization exposes Brazilians to unclear costs and increases the risk of over-indebtedness. Today, each bank sets its own terms and charges, leaving specialists concerned about growing financial vulnerability. Navro adds BVNK stablecoin payments for faster global payouts Navro now supports international stablecoin payments through a new integration with BVNK, adding a crypto-based settlement option to its one-API global payments platform. This move aligns with rising institutional use of stablecoins and growing demand for alternative payout methods in emerging markets. Stablecoins are increasingly used for workforce payments in countries facing inflation or currency volatility. Navro says the addition reinforces its goal of offering the best payment services in every region. The launch also follows stronger regulatory clarity in the US, EU, and UK, which has accelerated institutional adoption of digital-asset payments. The rollout comes shortly after Navro expanded 17 new real-time pay-to-bank corridors in October, increasing its instant-payment coverage to 61 countries. Vietnam launches QR-code retail payment connectivity with China Vietnam and China have activated a bilateral QR-code payment system that enables faster, safer, and more convenient retail transactions for Chinese visitors. The service follows more than a year of technical coordination after the 2024 MoU between National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) and UnionPay International. With the system live, Chinese tourists can scan VIETQR Global codes using their existing mobile apps to pay at shopping, dining, and tourist locations nationwide. Major retailers and service providers, including Central Retail, Highlands Coffee, and Sun World sites, have already enabled acceptance. By early 2026, the reverse flow will also launch, allowing Vietnamese travellers to scan QR codes in China. Once fully active in both directions, the system will create a cross-border QR payment network supporting tourism, trade, and consumer spending.
