HYROX World Championships

HYROX World Championships

The HYROX World Championships are the pinnacle of each HYROX season, where the fastest racers from around the world come together to battle it out for the highly sought after title of ‘Age Group World Champion’.

The qualification process for the World Championships is simple.

Racers can qualify at any of the global HYROX races within the same season by achieving one of the top placings in their respective age group and division. Please note that qualification is only possible for athletes who compete in the Pro Division (except for 60+ Athletes, Doubles Mixed Division and all athletes who qualify at a Regional Championship). The number of qualifying spots available at each race is dependent on the total number of participants at the same.

If an athlete who has already qualified & registered for the World Championships qualifies again at another race in the same division, this qualification place will automatically be offered to the next ranking athlete in the ranking. It is possible to qualify for the same World Championships in both the Pro Singles and Pro Doubles Divisions. Each qualification is treated independently, provided all criteria are met in each division.

Doubles Athletes must compete at the World Championships with the same partner they qualified with. Team substitutions are not permitted.

All qualified athletes will be notified of the World Championship qualification via email, and will have 72 hours to secure their spot. If the offer is not accepted, the slot will NOT roll down to the next athlete in the ranking.

Double Qualifier Events

We understand how much participating in the HYROX World Championship means for our athletes, and we want to ensure that all athletes are in peak condition for their race and have plenty of time to plan their HYROX World Championship experience!

As some of our races take place at the end of the 2025/26 season, athletes have only 2–3 weeks to make arrangements ahead of the HYROX World Championships 2026 in Stockholm, Sweden (18–21 June 2026).

Therefore, we are excited to offer athletes who qualify at these events the choice of either accepting a spot at the 2026 PUMA HYROX World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden (18–21 June 2026), or deferring their entry to the 2027 World Championships. Please note that the dates and location of the 2027 World Championships have not yet been confirmed.

This rule applies to the following events:

  • HYROX New York City (28. May – 8. June 2026)
  • HYROX Rimini (28.-31. May 2026)
  • HYROX Riga (30.-31. May 2026)
  • HYROX Johannesburg (30.-31. May 2026)
  • HYROX Buenos Aires (13. June 2026)

If you qualify for a spot at the HYROX World Championships through your performance at one of these events, you will have three options:

  • Option 1: Accept your spot, book your ticket immediately and compete at this year’s HYROX World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden on 18–21 June 2026.
  • Option 2: Accept your spot but defer to next season’s HYROX World Championships 2027.
After accepting the offer, you’ll be added to our priority list, and as soon as the HYROX World Championships location and dates for 2027 are announced, you’ll receive an email to book the ticket bindingly. Please note that you will have one week to confirm your 2027 World Championships spot again and complete the ticket purchase process, including payment.
  • Option 3: Decline the spot if you don’t wish to compete at any HYROX World Championship.

You will be asked to confirm your choice in the qualifier email, which will be sent the week after your HYROX event if your performance qualifies you for a spot.

Important Note:
These double qualifier events are not official qualifier for the 2027 HYROX World Championships. This is a special exception, made out of courtesy, to allow athletes to use their qualification for 2027 instead of having to compete in Stockholm at such short notice.
Only athletes who have not yet qualified for the 2026 HYROX World Championships will receive the qualifier email.
Athletes who have already qualified for the 2026 HYROX World Championships cannot secure their spot at the 2027 Championships through these events!
They will need to compete in a race that is officially part of the 2026/27 season (starting at the end of June) to qualify again.

Mixed Relay Invitational Qualification

The qualification pathway for the Mixed Relay Invitational at the HYROX World Championships 2026 introduces a transparent, points-based framework aligned with the broader evolution of Elite 15 qualification.

Points Framework

From July 2026, Elite 15 Singles and Doubles will transition from time-based qualification to a fixed points and percentile system.
This system also applies to the Mixed Relay qualification for the World Championships 2026 – but not only Elite15 can qualify!

Qualification

  • Results counted: 1 April 2025 – 1 April 2026
  • Best five race results per athlete
  • A valid HYROX Athlete License is required to accrue ranking points (available since 23. October 2025).
Only points earned while licensed are eligible. Apply for your athlete license at HERE

The team confirmation based on to the National Performance Index (NPI) and within the team based on the individual athletes’ ranking totals is following shortly after 1. April 2026.

National Performance Index (NPI)

Twenty nations compete:

  • 1 host nation (World Championships 2026: Sweden)
  • 19 nations via NPI

The NPI is calculated by combining:

  • Top two male athletes’ ranking totals
  • Top two female athletes’ ranking totals

Each athlete’s ranking total is derived from their best five Singles division results within the qualification window.

The nineteen highest NPI scores globally qualify.
Ties are resolved via strength-of-field methodology.

Regional Allocation

Each region (EMEA, APAC, Americas) is guaranteed representation via its Regional Championship. If already qualified via NPI, the slot rolls down to the next eligible nation in that region.

Team Rules

Each team:

  • must include the two highest ranked male and female athletes
  • must share nationality (passport-based)
  • must meet ranking and licensing requirements
  • may include athletes from Singles or Doubles
  • must name the athlete with the highest ranking total as team captain

World Championships FAQ

Once you have been offered a place to compete at the HYROX World Championships, you have a 72-hour window to claim your ticket (accept the slot invitation and pay for the ticket). There are no exceptions to this deadline. Offers can’t be extended.

Yes, you are eligible to qualify in both singles and doubles divisions. You may participate in both events at the World Championship if you meet the qualification criteria for each.

You can also qualify in different Doubles divisions (e.g. Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles), but not in the same division multiple times, even if in different age groups (e.g. qualifying in Men’s Doubles 30–34 and Men’s Doubles 35–39 is not possible).

You will always compete in the same age group in which you qualified. Even if you become older before the World Championships and would now fall into the older age group, your WC slot will remain in the younger age group.

Once you have accepted a slot, you will be locked in for that division and will not be able to re-qualify for the older division.

Example: If you are 39 during your qualifying race and accept a slot offer in the 35–39 age group, you will compete in the 35–39 age group at the World Championships. You cannot qualify again for the 40–44 category later in the season.
To compete in the 40–44 category at the World Championships, you must decline the first offer (while you are still 39), complete another race as soon as you turn 40, and then accept the slot.

Yes. If you qualify as part of a doubles pair, both athletes will receive individual ticket reservations. Both you and your partner must claim your tickets separately to secure your spots at the World Championship

No, once you have claimed your spot for a specific division, you are not eligible to requalify for the same division, even if your time allows it. Additionally, you cannot switch your qualification from one age group to another after you’ve claimed your spot.

No, if you’ve already qualified and signed up for the World Championship with a doubles partner, you are not eligible to re-qualify with another partner within the same division, even if your time qualifies again. The first original partner is locked in.

You can qualify in both the Solo and Doubles divisions and/or in different Doubles divisions (e.g. Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles), but not in the same division multiple times, even if in different age groups (e.g. qualifying in Men’s Doubles 30–34 and Men’s Doubles 35–39 is not possible).

You may not change the registration neither in respect of your participation, the division you are competing in nor the start time that will be assigned to you. An exception may be granted for participants in the Doubles Divisions, strictly in cases where one athlete is unable to compete due to proven illness or injury. In such cases, the affected athlete may be replaced by another athlete of the same gender and age group, only upon submission of a valid medical certificate and subject to prior written approval by HYROX. Requests for athlete substitution must be sent to our Customer Services at: [email protected], and must be received no later than four (4) weeks before the Event. Please note that this is a courtesy-based exception on a case-by-case basis.

It is not possible to request or change your allocated start time to race at the HYROX World Championships since all start waves are allocated by age group and division.

HYROX is moving to an Initial Offers Only policy for World Championship qualification (all races from 20. February 2026 onwards).
Under this policy, only the highest-ranked athlete or doubles team within each age group who is not yet qualified for the HYROX World Championships 2026 will receive an offer for a slot.
If that initial offer is not accepted, the slot will not roll down to the next-ranked athlete or team.

In practice, this means:

  • If the first-place athlete (or team) is not yet qualified, they will receive the offer.
  • If the first-place athlete (or team) is already qualified, the next eligible ranked athlete (or team) will receive it.
  • If that initial offer is declined, the slot will not be reallocated further.

The top 3 athletes in each division, based on the fastest times up until 5th May 2026, will be invited to compete at the HYROX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.
You must race in the official Adaptive Division at an event to be eligible.

Yes. The Adaptive Leaderboard is online and can be found here.

No, leaderboard resets for the 25/26 season and only times logged in Adaptive Races from 18. June 2025 to 5. May, 2026 will count toward 2026 Qualification.
