- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2015Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI bought the book "Oracle 12c for Dummies" about four weeks ago, but maybe due to the popularity of the subject (Oracle database administrators or administrators-to-be), the book took about four weeks to ship from (I think) Boston, MA. I live in San Diego, CA, and waited patiently, reading about various free, online related chapters and excerpts for this book. Even now, I am reading the book for potential job opportunities, because the goal is to become a database administrator (DBA) ! If you have similar motivations, buy this book and study up the free online sites until your book arrives ! You'll be glad you chose this book for the year 2015.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI was very impressed with the information contained in this book. I have worked in with other database engines and we are looking to move to oracle. This book has greatly helped me to be proficient in discussions about the possibility of a move. Would highly recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2016Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseJust what I needed, I got "volunteered" to play DBA until a new one could be hired. This made my life easier ...
good book for newbie on oracle 12c
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2016Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseGreat book that really dives into the fundamentals of being a DBA. Would highly recommend to anyone who is curious or wants to learn about the newest RDBMS.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2016Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI wanted a very surface-level overview. In many ways the book delivered. In other parts the author loosely touched on a lot of things, but it was loosely enough to where it was completely useless. Anyone expecting info on those types of topics would/should have bought a much larger and more in-depth book. The book would have been stronger if the author had simply said "this is beyond the scope of this book" at many points rather than starting to get slightly technical on something only to abandon the topic. I was also expecting a bit more of a broad overview of where 12c differs from prior versions and/or competitors.
Overall it wasn't a bad read, but the author left out a few things I was hoping they would cover and included a few things that probably ought to have been left out.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2018Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseInteresting, informative and well worth it.
