  • That's a wrap on ICMC 2026. Four days in Arlington with the people who build cryptography, audit it, certify it, and break it — and who make our roadmap real. Thank you to everyone who came by the booth, sat in on a talk, pulled us aside in a hallway, or stayed late for one more question. That's the part that doesn't fit on a slide. A few things we're taking home: → Post-quantum is no longer a future conversation; it's a migration plan with a timeline. → FIPS 140-3, EUCC, the new cross-recognition work — the certification landscape is shifting fast, and our customers are asking sharper questions because of it. → The community around OpenSSL is bigger, more generous, and more technically demanding than ever. We're here for it. Special thanks to our hosts at ICMC, to the program committee, and to every engineer who let us interrupt their coffee with a protocol question. See you in Toronto — 12–15 April 2027. https://lnkd.in/e2Rk3iHC #ICMC2026 #OpenSSL #Cryptography #PostQuantum #FIPS140 #Cybersecurity

  • Post-quantum cryptography stopped being a roadmap item at ICMC 2026. In our latest Field Dispatch, Tomáš Vávra walked the ICMC floor through what shipped in OpenSSL 3.5 LTS: ML-KEM, ML-DSA, and SLH-DSA — the three FIPS 203/204/205 algorithms —already interoperating with fifteen providers on the morning of 23 September 2025. The point he kept returning to: the record-now-decrypt-later threat isn't hypothetical. Every TLS session an organisation sends today is a session an adversary may be harvesting for tomorrow's quantum computer. OpenSSL 3.5 ships the primitives, the hybrid defaults, and — critically —a single openssl s_server command that lets engineers stand up a working PQC TLS endpoint this afternoon. Three standards. Fifteen providers. One command. • A full day on the floor at ICMC26. Back-to-back meetings with clients and partners. Conversations with cryptographers, senior leaders from large enterprises, and government representatives. Too many friends to count. Anton Arapov signs off Day 2 — and extends an invitation to Day 3. We'd like to know what you're tomorrow, find us.building with OpenSSL, and how we can help. • First-of-its-kind at ICMC26: the OpenSSL Large Business Community (LBC) is meeting in person for the first time. An informal coffee break get-together. Relaxed, no agenda. Just a chance to put faces to names, meet fellow LBC members, and connect directly with the OpenSSL Corporation team. → OpenSSL LBC Coffee Break Meetup → Wednesday 22 April · 10:30 AM → Studio A · OpenSSL Meeting Room If you're an LBC member and at ICMC26, come by. A good opportunity to meet in person and start building relationships across the community. #ICMC26 #OpenSSL #Community

  • Post-quantum cryptography has moved from roadmap to release notes. Tomas Vavra, Engineering Manager at OpenSSL Corporation, takes the stage at ICMC26 this morning. → PQC in the OpenSSL Library → Wednesday 22 April · 11:00 → Salon 1–3 What's already there. How it works. What to expect when you use it. What's next on the roadmap. If you're at ICMC26, come along. #ICMC26 #PostQuantum #Cryptography #OpenSSL

  • Seven days before Tim Hudson took the stage at ICMC26, OpenSSL Library shipped OpenSSL 4.0 — the first release in its twenty-seven-year history without SSL. TLS only. ENGINE gone. Post-quantum cryptography in. Encrypted Client Hello shipped. On Tuesday afternoon in Studio E, Tim gave the dispatch: 30 minutes, 46 slides — the release, the certificates, and the governance. The record: 3 active NIST certificates including #4985, the Library's first FIPS 140-3 validation · 20 rebranding submissions completed · 11-day turnaround on a rebranding cert. • 05:00 in Arlington. Exhibit hall. Empty. Quiet. Not a soul in sight. In a few hours: hundreds of people, spilling coffee, shaking hands, debating post-quantum timelines. Conferences look effortless by design. They are not effortless. This quiet is earned — by the people already awake somewhere in the building, prepping a day the rest of us haven't started yet. This afternoon: Tim Hudson's OpenSSL Roadmap, Studio E. Done. Good room. A question from the Q&A — will OpenSSL run one FIPS validation in the pipeline at any time? Answer: yes. Early stages of working out what that looks like in practice. Right now, OpenSSL 3.5, our latest LTS, is the one in flight. Still to come: Tomáš Vávra · PQC in the OpenSSL Library · 11:00, Salon 1–3. Respect to everyone making ICMC happen. #ICMC26 #Cryptography #FIPS140 #OpenSSL

  • Good morning, Arlington. ICMC26 opens today. The booth went up yesterday — built with engineering discipline and, full disclosure, a roll of duct tape. The team is caffeinated. The slides are open. Last night's oysters at Old Ebbitt are a memory. OpenSSL Corporation is Gold Sponsor. → Tim Hudson · OpenSSL Roadmap · Tuesday, Studio E → Tomas Vavra · PQC in the OpenSSL Library · Wednesday, Salon 1–3 → Booth · exhibit hall · all week Full Day Zero dispatch — including what duct tape has in common with FIPS 140-3 — on the blog: https://lnkd.in/eh8nvAsC
