  • 💡 #PBMMath: A 50% discount on a $12 drug costs more than a $5 drug with no discount. When numbers get thrown at you without full context, it's easy to lose track of the one that actually matters to your bottom line: net cost. "AWP discounts" and "rebate guarantees" are interesting data points, but it's the whole package that is meaningful. When you really stop to think about it, if your legacy PBM had nothing to hide and had your best interest in mind, why don't you get 100% transparency, down to the claim-level?   • 🥤Four years ago, one of the nation's largest beverage distribution companies made a move that some enterprise benefits leaders are historically hesitant to try: they left their legacy PBM. Fast forward to today, and they're ✨still✨ paying less per member per month than they were when they made that switch, even as drug prices across the market continue to rise. What pushed them to act?   • 🪪 We're all familiar with our health benefits card, but what do all those codes and numbers actually do? Here's a look at the life of a pharmacy claim: 📩 Think of each claim like a piece of mail. The codes on your insurance card — a pharmacy bin, PCN, group number, and member ID — act as a mailing address, routing your prescription data through a switching company to the right PBM.
