You can reference its value within a procedure, but not modify it. If you don&#8217;t specify a parameter mode explicitly, PL\/SQL automatically uses <code>IN<\/code> as the default mode.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><code>OUT<\/code> parameter is writable. It means you can assign a value to an OUT parameter and return it to the program called the procedure. Note that a procedure ignores the value that you provide for an <code>OUT<\/code> parameter.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><code>INOUT<\/code> parameter is both readable and writable. This means the procedure can access its initial value and also modify it.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The <code>OR REPLACE<\/code> option allows you to update an existing procedure with the new code without dropping it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id='plsql-procedure-body'>PL\/SQL procedure body <a href=\"#plsql-procedure-body\" class=\"anchor\" id=\"plsql-procedure-body\" title=\"Anchor for PL\/SQL procedure body\">#<\/a><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Similar to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracletutorial.com\/plsql-tutorial\/plsql-anonymous-block\/\">anonymous block<\/a>, the procedure body has three parts:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Declaration<\/strong>: This section is where you can declare <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracletutorial.com\/plsql-tutorial\/plsql-variables\/\">variables<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracletutorial.com\/plsql-tutorial\/plsql-constants\/\">constants<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracletutorial.com\/plsql-tutorial\/plsql-cursor\/\">cursors<\/a>, and other elements. Unlike an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oracletutorial.com\/plsql-tutorial\/plsql-anonymous-block\/\">anonymous block<\/a>, a declaration section of a procedure does not start with the <code>DECLARE<\/code> keyword.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Execution<\/strong>: This section contains the core logic of the procedure, consisting of one or more statements that perform specific tasks.
