I analyse the evolution of the Indian Defence Sector and the substantial shifts it has undergone through policy changes, legal compliances, and major restructuring in DPSUs and the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB). However, I believe that the Indian Defence Sector still faces many challenges that need to be addressed. In this paper, I have examined aspects such as technological advancements, skill development, the focus on MRO, the encouragement of defence startups, and the myths surrounding the Agniveer Scheme. Both Serving & Retired Group-A Officers Eligible For Special Metropolitan Magistrate Posts: Delhi High Court In a recent ruling, the Delhi High Court clarified that both serving and retired Group-A officers are eligible to be appointed as Special Metropolitan Magistrates (SMMs). The judgment came after a retired officer challenged the eligibility criteria, claiming that only retirees could apply because the application form mentioned “retirement fields.” The Court rejected this narrow interpretation, holding that the mention of retirement details was not meant to exclude serving officers from consideration. View of Dr. Anthony Raju, Advocate Supreme Court & Chairman, Indian National Human Rights Protection Council: "This judgment ensures equal opportunity and prevents unnecessary exclusion from public service roles. It upholds the principle that eligibility should be based on law and intent, not on restrictive readings of application formats.
