Stop developers hijacking the font library

    Can WordPress please disallow developers from stealing the ability to upload your own fonts and use them? Developers like WPZoom, and others will absolutely keep you from unhooking Google fonts and use your own unless you upgrade. Even other plugins that allow you to upload fonts doesn’t work. The theme customizers will not recognize any other besides Google’s. That’s stupid and cruel. Choosing and using a font is a basic thing and shouldn’t become a hostage situation for money. WordPress, please change this and stop letting developers use your fonts for ransom. This is basic, not advanced. I wouldn’t mind paying for advanced features, but using something this basic as a scam to get you to pay should not be allowed.

    WordPress can’t stop anyone from doing anything. And unless a developer who’s plugin or theme is hosted here is violating the plugin or theme guidelines, that developer’s approved code will remain in the WordPress plugin repository here.

    If a developer’s plugin or theme is doing something you personally dislike then you should vote with your feet and walk away from their code.

    Also, I regret mentioning WPZoom. I was incorrect about them.
