Situation: I have an old iMac (late 2009) running High Sierra (MacOSX 10.13). That is the latest operating system officially supported for that hardware. The computer works well. I am using Chrome instead of Safari so I have a much more recent web browser, although Chrome is also no longer updated for High Sierra.

Problem: Each time I start Chrome get a message like "To get security updates you need at least macOS 10.15. Please upgrade your OS." (in german). How can I disable that message? I will not upgrade the OS version.

The message can be ignored and can be closed by clicking the 'x', but this is annoying.

I assume you understand there are some risks using a browser which is no longer supported. Firefox is a more secure browser for HS. Commented 10 hours ago

Open "Terminal" (e.g., through the Spotlight search).

Type:

defaults write com.google.Chrome SuppressUnsupportedOSWarning -bool true

This worked for me. The message no longer appears.
