    Hi,

This client recently reported strange behaviour for the form embedded on this page. The form included the Title Prefix for Mr, Mrs and Ms, but for some donations – not all – the selection made by the donor was not recognised, and instead, the first in the list – so Mr – was applied automatically.

Is this something anyone has experienced before? If so, how did you resolve it? I wondered whether it might be an issue caused by WP Rocket, but exclusion rules already exist for the pages with the forms, so if anyone has any ideas, I would be grateful.

For now, we have simply removed the title prefix field form the form, but the client would like to make use of it if possible.

    Hello @gmzephi,

Glad you reached out, happy to help.

We’ll need a bit more information here to see if this can be replicated.

    • Is this new behavior? what might have changed?
    • Do you know which prefix was selected that did not get saved on the donation?
    • Was this on a specific device like a mobile phone?

Also, can you check in your Global settings to see what prefixes are enabled there, and share a screenshot?

This is a link to that page for reference:

Thanks in advance! We look forward to guiding you to a resolution here! 🙂

    Hi Ginger,

Thanks for your fast response. To answer your questions:

    – Is this new behavior?  what might have changed?
As far as we know, this is new behaviour. The plugin was recently updated to v4.13.0, alongside other plugins. The client is also using other outdated GiveWP plugins, as they have let their subscription lapse.

     – Do you know which prefix was selected that did not get saved on the donation?
The prefix that was selected was “Mrs.”, the prefix that was saved was “Mr.”. “Mr.” seems to be the prefix that has been saved in all the instances I can see in the list of Donations where this has been an issue, but I do not know whether it as always “Mrs.” that was selected.
Having looked at this again, I wonder though whether the incorrect prefix had been selected for a previous donation, and the prefix was therefore being pulled from there. 🤔

     – Was this on a specific device like a mobile phone?
I do not know the answer to this, so would need to check with the client, who then may have to contact the donor. I can feedback as soon as I hear back from them.

Also, can you check in your Global settings to see what prefixes are enabled there, and share a screenshot?
    Here you go. 😊

Not sure how helpful that all is in getting to the bottom of the issue. 😅

    Hello again,

I’ve not been able to reproduce this on a test site. If this is reproducible on the client’s site, can you get a screen recording of the process to send us so we can review?

Otherwise, I would suggest that at some point they upgrade their donation forms to the newer format, using the visual donation form builder. We have a migration guide for that here:
    https://givewp.com/documentation/core/campaigns/give-forms/migrate-donation-forms-to-the-visual-form-builder/

And finally, for future questions, the site has premium add-ons so you’ll want to contact us via the Priority Support page in here — https://givewp.com/priority-support/, and we’ll be happy to take a closer look at the issue.

I’m marking this one as resolved for now.

Have a great rest of your day/evening! 🙂
