• I don’t know if this is the correct forum section. Over the past few days, I’ve translated many lines of plugins I use, but if I go to my profile, the number doesn’t match what’s listed in my activity.
For example, today I translated about 3,000 lines, but my profile says:
    Translated 113 strings on translate.wordpress.org.

I’m confused… I mean, for example, I suggested more than 3,000 lines, and in my activity stream it compares

    165 suggested strings on Translate.wordpress.org.

When in the stream it says

    113 translated strings on Translate.wordpress.org.

it perhaps refers to approved translations (I don’t know), but the suggested translations should be immediate and complete.

After reading your post yesterday, I searched for the source code that generates this output in the activity. It’s publicly available on GitHub. I also suspect that it has something to do with the fact that only approved strings are counted. This is because unapproved strings could also be rejected and therefore offer no added value to the community. But that’s exactly what should be shown in the activity I think.

I think you could also ask the question in the #meta channel in Slack, see also here at the top right: https://make.wordpress.org/meta/ or ask here: https://github.com/WordPress/wordpress.org/issues – maybe someone there will find an even better answer 🙂

There are 2 strings in the activity log:

    165 suggested strings on Translate.wordpress.org.
    113 translated strings on Translate.wordpress.org.

So there’s a distinction between translated strings (I assume they’re the approved ones) and suggested ones.

I think this is a bug.

Could you let the higher-ups know about this? I don’t know how.

    Thanks

As already mentioned, you can contact the teams responsible if you notice any discrepancies here. I have described the options above. You could also open a ticket in Meta Trac so that someone can look into it: https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/newticket – I think you would need to select “Profiles” as the “Component” there.

I have some information to give, if I start translating without looking at my profile for at least a day, when I go to view my profile, in the activity I find the correct number in the translated lines. But if I then go back to translating and then visit the profile again after a while, the counter does not increase anymore.

Yes, that could well have something to do with the way the data is collected. As I said, Meta Trac would be the right place to start.
