Inspiration

BarQuest was inspired by merge puzzle games and the idea of combining simple controls with survival-style pressure and space management.

What it does

Players launch and merge matching drinks into higher tiers to complete customer orders within 60 seconds while preventing the growing pile from reaching the danger zone. Each run progresses through Beach, Zombie, and Alien bars, introducing new hazards and challenges. Players can use limited special abilities to manage the board, create chain-reaction combos, and compete for higher scores.

How we built it

We built BarQuest as a portrait mobile browser game using HTML5, JavaScript, Three.js, custom physics, and 2D artwork.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenges were creating stable drink physics, balancing the 60-second orders, and keeping the gameplay readable as the table fills.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a complete merge-survival loop with three themed stages, special abilities, unique hazards, customer orders, and score-based replayability.

What we learned

We learned how small changes to physics, timing, and object placement can significantly affect the strategy and feel of a puzzle game.

What's next for BarQuest

We plan to expand BarQuest with deeper stage mechanics and new themes such as Western, Pirate, and Dinosaur bars.
