While playbooks can get you far in a negotiation, adaptive expertise is what gets you the rest of the way, especially once the playbook runs out. Nada Alnajafi, Lead Legal Ops & Sr. Corporate Counsel, and Founder of Contract Nerds, learned this early, in an unexpected place: an undergrad improv class, long before law school. In her latest article, she traces that lesson all the way to the negotiating table, where she once faced a counterparty who deleted an entire clause with no explanation. Instead of defending it, she asked one question: "Can you help me understand the concern you're trying to solve?" That question uncovered the real issue (it came down to a single word) and led to a solution on the spot. That's improvisation. Not making things up as you go, but drawing on preparation and experience to find a solution in the moment. READ MORE >> https://lnkd.in/egkAhrh3 #ContractNegotiation #ContractManagement #LegalOps
