What is new in 6.0

6.0 keeps the CuteChat engine, its SQL Server storage and the classic licence system, and replaces the browser client. Existing rooms, accounts and history carry over.

• Modern message composer

  Markdown formatting, @mentions and consecutive-message grouping, so a busy room reads like a conversation rather than a log.

• Works on a phone

  A responsive layout for the room list, roster and composer, plus full keyboard navigation for people who never touch the mouse.

• Presence and typing

  Live roster with join and leave events, typing indicators, and slash commands including /me, /join and /help.

• Private messaging

  Buddy list, contact search and one-to-one conversations delivered as engine whispers, so private messages never reach the room.

• Flood control

  Rate limiting on the server side, alongside the moderation tools the engine already provided.

• Same licence, same engine
