⚠️ There is a nationwide public transportation strike tomorrow, 9th September, in the Netherlands. ⚠️ This applies to intercity trains, to all local methods in Amsterdam, and probably also the local methods in other major cities. They are protesting social security cuts.

If you have a flight departing Schiphol tomorrow, go get a hotel near the airport ⚠️TONIGHT.⚠️

The only train in the country will be the one between the stations of Amsterdam Centraal, Schiphol Airport and Hoofddorp.

Kindly do not reply to me as if I am in charge of Dutch public transportation, I am in fact just a rando on the internet who thought you might like to know this before it's too late.

I regret to inform everyone that my copy of QBittorrent escaped its sandbox last night and downloaded a whole bunch of content owned by major corporations, and then my copy of Jellyfin broke containment and added those unfortunately-downloaded media files to its various libraries. I'm conducting an internal investigation to figure out how this happened, which will involve consuming these media files until the answers become apparent. Thank you for your cooperation during this trying time.

#Harvard published a paper with a devastating title: “Large-Language Models as a #CognitiveVirus”

 Abstract Large-language models (LLMs) are rapidly becoming part of human culture, reshaping how information is produced, transmitted, and used. Here we propose that their diffusion can be understood through a viral analogy, with LLM use spreading through populations, becoming embedded in cognitive and cultural practices. We model transitions among uncoupled, coupled, and persistently dependent users, and show that the interplay between social transmission, recovery, and collective reinforcement can generate tipping points and technological lock-in. A central consequence is the possibility of runaway dynamics: once a critical threshold is crossed, small increases in adoption can trigger rapid population-level shifts toward persistent dependence, with abrupt losses in cognitive competence. The same framework, however, identifies conditions for cognitive immunization, based on reducing transmission and facilitating reversibility. Our results highlight how LLM adoption may involve nonlinear collective transitions with important consequences for cognitive autonomy.

I learned today that POSIX specifies a tool designed to assist you in reviewing & modifying LLM-generated code. In typical Unix fashion, they shortened "reviewing & modifying" to just two letters:

$ rm code.rs

It even has command-line options to [r]ecursively [f]ix whole directories of LLM-generated code:

$ rm -rf project/
