How can people say this?? If you reconsider and realize that this is part of evolution, you realize that we as a species are not special and are not immune to natural selection over time…

With all respect, this is bizarre. It’s a ridiculous take. Humans have evolved over hundreds of thousands of years. We aren’t going to die out because a token prediction model gained sentience. Get a grip. All of you.

Why can’t every country in the race just pool in a few trillion dollars and whichever country makes the most alignment progress the fastest wins the pot. That way we keep a huge incentive but we make it towards the right thing. Surely there has to be some part of alignment

I am optimistic about the potential for coordination. Warning shots like the Hugging Face attack have made pacing agreements between U.S. labs more viable. I don’t feel like we’re on track to prevent a global race, which may require costly actions such as a temporary ban on

can confirm. here’s opencooked (overcooked knockoff) just a couple prompts. it’s basically the fully functional game except I can modify assets to be more fun and make whatever maps I want try it: opencooked.fun repo: github.com/awlevin/openco…

it may soon be cheaper to rebuild/clone games than to buy them at the store... it cost about $10 of compute each to knock off Super Smash Bros, as well as mario kart and a few others built with Astra ofc this isn't full game quality and no online vs. mode or all the maps, but

It is definitely distinguishable from the smartest humans. It’s way smarter and has way less social skills. So actually, maybe it is on par with the smartest humans

The rate of improvement from original GPT to GPT-3 is impressive. If this rate of improvement continues, GPT-5 or 6 could be indistinguishable from the smartest humans. Just my opinion, not an endorsement. I left OpenAI 2 to 3 years ago. Am a neutral outsider at this point.
