What they don't tell you about the M5 Max MacBook Pro is that it has coil whine. So you get DeepSeek 4 Flash at 32 tokens / second with noise or 12 tokens / seconds in peace and quiet. Tiiiiiiiiiiii. In that regard maybe the Mac Studio is a better choice.

A fond memory of the floppy disk era is that Borland C had a function for reading floppy disk sectors. Disks cost money and I had many with "bad sector 0". So I made a C app to copy games to/from these bad discs. Basically, a simplistic filesystem.

When I was an intern on MS-DOS in '93, one of my last projects was the "StepUp!" upgrade: putting the entire MS-DOS upgrade on a single floppy disk. Normally, it was 3-4 disks, so saving a couple of bucks on each copy, times a few million copies, would save the company

DwarfStar (by @antirez ) is self-improving: I got DeepSeek V4 Flash to improve a kernel that looked promising, refined it with Clade and I have a PR: github.com/antirez/ds4/pu… with 0.3% - 1% faster tokens. The idea is simple: you don't need a full sort if you only want top-K.

Getting Omarchy running on the quite old ARMv7 Asus C201P was actually super easy since I had a signed U-Boot boot loader already. I just unleashed AI on a fork with the right references and the image obviously just booted. It helps that Omarchy can just use Arch Linux ARM.
