Do I need to upload the ZIP just to look inside it?

No. The Inspect page reads the archive's directory straight from the file on your own machine and never sends it anywhere. Use it when you only want to see what a ZIP contains.

How do password-protected shares work?

A Pro upload can carry a password. The share page then shows nothing at all — not the filename, not the contents, and the download and single-file endpoints refuse too — until the password is entered. It is stored hashed, so nobody here can read it back to you.

Are password-protected ZIP files supported?

That is a different thing: a ZIP encrypted by your zip tool. You can upload and share one, and the file list still shows names and sizes because a ZIP stores those unencrypted. Encrypted entries cannot be previewed or pulled out individually — whoever downloads it needs the password.

Can I delete an upload before it expires?

Yes. Signed in, there is a Delete button on every archive in your dashboard. Signed out, the browser you uploaded from keeps a delete key and shows the same button next to your own links.

What happens to the links I made before signing up?

They come with you. When you create an account, anything uploaded anonymously in that browser is attached to it automatically, using the delete key already stored there as proof it was yours.

Are uploads scanned for malware?

No, and you should assume nothing here is vetted. Only open archives from people you trust. Because the file list is visible before download, you can at least see what an archive claims to contain first.

Who can reach my upload?

Anyone holding the link. Links are unguessable and are never listed or indexed, but a share page has no password unless you are on Pro and set one. Do not use the free tier for confidential material.

01Is uploading and sharing a ZIP file really free?

Yes. Drop a ZIP in and get a link back in seconds — no email, no card. Uploads go up to 20 MB and the link lasts 24 hours.

02Do I need an account?

No. Uploading works signed out, and the link behaves the same. An account is worth it if you want your links in one place, links that outlive the browser you made them in, or the Pro features.

03What does Pro add?

Archives up to 2 GB instead of 20 MB, links that never expire (or expire exactly when you choose), unlimited live links, password-protected shares, per-country and per-device download analytics, and no UploadZipFile footer on your share pages. It is $6 a month, or $60 a year.

04How long does the link stay online?

On the free tier, 24 hours, with the countdown shown next to the link. After that the archive is deleted from storage and the link returns a "gone" page. Pro links can be set to any expiry from one hour to never.

05Can people see what is inside without downloading it?

That is the point of the tool. The share page lists every file and folder in the archive with its size, so the person you sent it to knows exactly what they are getting before spending the bandwidth.

06Can someone download just one file out of the ZIP?

Yes. Any file inside the archive can be downloaded on its own, up to 25 MB, and text files, images, PDFs, audio and video preview on the page. Nothing is unpacked ahead of time — the single file is pulled out of the archive on request.
