This Privacy Policy explains how videngineer ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use videngineer.com and its tools (including the video analysis and the Asset Extractor).
When you crawl a page, we fetch that public page server-side to list its assets. We store the URL and resulting metadata against your account so you can return to it. We do not permanently host the third-party assets themselves beyond what's needed to build your download. You are responsible for having the rights/permission to use any assets you extract — see our Terms.
The videngineer Chrome extension acts only when you click it. It reads the URL of the video you choose and sends it to your videngineer account for analysis using your existing login session. It does not collect your browsing history, does not read page content beyond the video you pick, and never transmits your session cookie. Settings (analysis speed, recent-queue cache) are stored locally in your browser via the extension's storage. It contains no analytics and no remote code. You can remove it at any time from chrome://extensions.
We use Google Analytics 4 and PostHog to understand traffic, see where visitors come from, and improve the product. They set cookies and process usage data (including a truncated IP) under their respective terms. We honor your browser's Do Not Track setting, session recording is off by default, and you can block analytics cookies in your browser. We do not put personal data in URLs.
We share data only with processors that run the service on our behalf — e.g. hosting (Railway), database/auth (Supabase), email delivery (Resend), and analytics (Google, PostHog). They process data under contract and may not use it for their own purposes.
We keep account and analysis data while your account is active. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, and you can delete your account, by emailing us. We'll respond within a reasonable time and as required by applicable law (GDPR/CCPA where relevant).
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls). No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
videngineer is for business users and not directed at anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
