After qualifying as a registered nurse in 2007, Louise has found academic research & writing within the health sector has transferred to her love of history and has helped enormously when writing her non-fiction history books. As an Associate Fellow of the Royal History Society, her love of local history is shown by her first three books in the Secret Series by Amberley Publishing – Secret Hayes, Secret Chepstow and Secret Monmouth. An introduction into A History of Nursing was published in 2019. With Pen & Sword, Louise published the tragic story of Alice Plantagenet of Norfolk in Edward I's Granddaughters: Murder, Power & Plantagenets in 2023 followed by Florence Nightingale's Rivals: Nursing Through the Crimea published in 2024. Louise is currently busy with research on her next book, The Dark Age of Tudor Nursing. Louise has had articles published in Inside History, All About History, Monmouthshire Living and Breathe magazines and currently works as a part-time Clinical Nurse Specialist.
